I called the NVC on Jan 19, 2015 and they gave me the 3 magic numbers. Case number, Invoice ID, Beneficiary ID. Do we just wait for further notice? Can we start application and set appoints in Manila for our K1 visa application? Will they contact her in Ph, or will they contact me in the US with further instructions? Thanks. I hope we are close!

Three magic numbers? There can be ONLY ONE!

If you have your MNL # it is ROCK n ROLL time! Follow the flashing arrow below for complete details on the K-1 process in Manila.

Everything is done online in the Philippines.... don't be sitting around waiting. Oh and while you are at it, email NVC requesting the MNL # also.

Clarification: Is the "Case Number" (MNL2015xxxyyy) that was given to me from the NVC the same number that you are referring to as the "MNL#" ? Because the case number was given from the NVC and they said to wait for instructions, etc. My fiance is worried about breaking the rules. How does she go about the next few steps? (I will read your flashing arrow link)

Thanks!!

Yes that is the number!

There are no rules being broken tell your fiancee to relax, for sure don't sit around waiting for a letter from the embassy ... if my asawa did that she would still be sitting in the Philippines years later covered in cob webs.

Hi,

Thanks for your information, but every time she or I call the US Manila Embassy, they tell us that she has could schedule the interview, but that they will not actually conduct the interview without the letter of invitation to interview.

I called the US MNL Embassy myself to verify, and they are very adamant about waiting for the letter.

How is it that you can schedule the interview with them saying that you will not get an interview unless you have "The Letter."

Thanks in advance!!

First thing is did you (petitioner) received a letter from NVC with the MNL#? Because that's all they will ask at SLEC and in some cases during interview (not in my case).

Secondly, I also called USEM number asking about "The Letter" that I (beneficiary) will receive. They specifically told me to wait for it and I could be refused an interview if I dont have it. NEVER HAPPENED. I scheduled an interview, went to SLEC for medical, arrived at interview date, got approved during interview. I'm now waiting for my visa to be Issued.

I received our case number from the nvc over the telephone about 2 weeks ago. Ever since then they've been so busy apparently, that no one answers the phone. So I did not receive the letter but I have the case number, but I asked embassy if we could proceed, and the embassy said you must have the letter otherwise they will not conduct an interview. So in your case, do you think they just forgot about the letter, or do they really not care about the letter, and why is there this discrepancy? My fiance in Manila is so worried about breaking the rule she is scared to death to schedule an interview without the letter. she is just very sweet and very honest conscientious.

Okay, just to be clear here...I think you need to ask and keep calling the NVC for the letter with MNL #. My fiance received hers 3 weeks after we received NOA2...so keep calling until they sent it to you. Your fiancee needs it during the medical and in some rare case, during the interview.

The "letter" that I NEVER received (and most beneficiaries here never received) is the letter coming from US Embassy Manila. Don't wait for that letter because that will never arrive.

I would suggest to start preparing documents you need to sent to her (Affidavit of Support, relationship proof, etc) for her interview. And keep prodding NVC to send that letter and then schedule the interview when you have the NVC letter. Also important to remember that she needs to take the medical at least 2 weeks (give or take) before interview.

The Interview Confirmation email/letter/page .... THAT is required. The useless letter is not required.... stop focusing on "that" letter and beat feet.... you are burning daylight.

EVERYTHING that is required is listed in the embassy instructions letter... everything. There is a link to the instructions letter in my guide below.

I never recieved a letter or email from the NVC. I called and recieved the Manila Case #. With that number things moved quick!

Paid the visa fee at BPI

Waited 48 hours

Scheduled an interview

My fiancée completed the DS-160 online

Fiancee went for Medical

Took interview confirmation for Medical

She said Case Number recieved by phone when asked about NVC letter

Attended Interview today and was approved

Again...No NVC Letter, No NVC email, No letter from embassy. I had a copy of the NOA2 approval, but it was never asked for.

Don't wait, follow Hank's guide.

There are many veteran's of the visa process here trying to help you. This is a simple process but your making it into something that it is not. Follow Hank's guide as it is based on many years that he has been here helping couples just like you. If you have questions return here and ask. There are many of us that experienced this process and we can save you time and headaches. If you want to follow what they are telling you and not the "boots on the ground", so be it. Just my two centavos.
