I am in the beginning stages of my K-1 visa with my fiancee.

I am 24 and my fiancee is 17. My case worker from easyfianceevisa told me I need a parental consent letter from her parents to allow her to marry me, and to have it Notarized.

Here is where it becomes tricky and anyone who has been through this particular situation or knows what I need please feel free to be verbose and tell me everything you know.

What I have found out so far is that Thailand does not have public notaries like we in the united states. Thailand is one of the few countries which does not have the ability to go into your local city office and get a document notarized. What they do have are Thai lawyers who offer notarizing services, BUT what I have not yet been able to confirm is IF the US government Accepts Thai lawyers notary validity???

So I need to find out if I need a Notary from the US embassy in Chiang Mai, or a Notary from a Thai Lawyer, Or a notary from the thai government ministry of foreign affairs? Or a combination of ALL 3??

In addition to the notarization confusion I am having, I am also unsure of what format this "letter" of consent needs to be in. Is there a standard form? Can it be composed by her mother saying something basic such as

"I *insert mothers name* give full consent to my daughter *insert daughters name* to allow her to marry *insert my name*"

And finally, my final confusion is whether I need to get the original Thai letter notarized, then translate it?? or get BOTH the thai letter and the translation notarized? or get the thai letter composed, then only notarize the english translation?

Sorry if my post is scatter shot, and I know my situation is more rare because my fiancee is only 17 at the moment.

thank you in advance for any info or help :)
