Sent K1 App and Supporting Docs; They Cashed Check; No Word from USCIS Since (It's been a month)?

Hello, all, and thank you for reading my first post here. Briefly:

12/15/2014: Mailed K1 Visa Application with Supporting Documents

12/29/2014: USCIS Cashed My Check

01/13/2015: Nothing. Haven't heard from them at all. No call. No letter. No receipt number.

*I should note I did not submit that email form. I preferred to get regular, real mail from USCIS.

Can anyone tell me what this means? What should I do? Whom should (attempt to) call?

I've read other threads, and couldn't find this nor other timelines. Also, the threads are hard to read bc every entry has acronym after acronym which are essentially Greek to me.

Thanks in advance! It's going to be fun going through this process while the federal government gives legal status to over 5 million illegals already here! Yay!

The G-1145 (email form) does not send you emails INSTEAD of the mailed notices but in addition. It simply allows you to know a few days earlier than the mail would.

However, too late for that now. You can try calling USCIS but without a case number they may not be able to help you. Oregon petitions are sent to CSC so in a couple of weeks you could also try contacting them. I assume things just got held up due to the holidays and that you'll have your NOA1 soon. The good news is they definitely have your petition if the check has been cashed. Good luck!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it needs to go to USICS, then State Dept here in US, THEN on to embassy abroad? Is that the chain?

And yes, I've searched the site already for this and other answers.

I wonder how people here are reacting to the federal government's plan (which will not be stopped by Congress, mark my words) to give legal status and work permits to over five million illegal aliens?

I'm not entirely sure that's fair to people like us, trying to do things the right way...

That's quite a contentious issue, particularly on visa journey, where I am sure you will find lots of people agreeing with you. The fear is that processing those immigrants will also delay visas like ours, which is completely unfair...

Being you opted not to complete the 1145 you probably have a couple more weeks before the snail mail will be delivered.
