Hi! a quick on... hubby is filing returns as he had not done so yester-years.. what is the best and fast way..to send aos papers.. do we need to use the W2s or have to wait for transcripts to be processed.. I am confused here coz i don't understand how it is done in the US.. please give us advice.. we need to send them soon

when in doubt read the instructions over again. Sending in tax transcript copies of W-2 are not require, However sending in photo copies of tax forms W-2 is require along with any other paperwork you sent in with the form.

It is located under #7 item#14 Federal Tax Information of the I-184 instructions

I. Go to the IRS webite enter info download print out, but your situation is different you should make copies of everything your husband is sending to IRS and send that in. You will not have to wait for IRS to process everything to get a tax transcript

September 1, 2010: Switched course from K1 to CR-1
December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!
February 9, 2011: Depart for China
February 11, 2011: Registered for marriage in Wuhan, officially married!!!
February 18, 2011: Wedding ceremony in Shiyan!!!
April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)
April 29, 2011: Updated
May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail
July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!
December 7, 2011: POE - Sea-Tac Airport

September 17, 2013: Mailed I-751 to CSC

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

If you don't know for sure it would be better to not advise people in the wrong direction. Transcripts were easier and recommended over W2's

Wow! You are the first Kenyan i get to interact with on VJ. Thanks for your contribution on this matter. Pls notice that my hubby had not filed previous years. He is just filing them and we wonder what to send to NVC. In mind we have - Copy of Federal Tax Return.. we plan to send in for 2013 even though we are filing for the last 3 years. Urgent help needed here, i have just mailed him our IV package.. (me and my daughter)

That transcript bit is so tricky.

Yes you can send tax transcripts in without w-2. However You should read the whole topic ,the op stated that she did not want to wait for tax transcripts and stated she has tax return .That why I Told her she could send in the Tax returns with w-2s , so she will not have to wait the IRS to process everything . Tax transcript does not require w-2s .Sending in copies of Tax returns does. Read the I-864 instructions. It seems like you need to read everything more clearer before you post to soon.

Yes tax transcripts are easier for most. however in the op case she had just sent the tax info in. So you are suggesting she should wait for the IRs to receive and process her taxes., to get a tax transcript. When she could send in the copies of tax return and W-2,s forms right away .looks to me like the wrong info is making the op wait longer then she has too.

Why do people never read the whole topic? and only the last couple of posts of the topic. Then always assume wrong info is giving.
