POE question

My fiance has his interview on Tuesday of next week and we were arranging to buy flights, and we realized that we aren't exactly sure how the whole POE process works. He wants to fly directly from Gatwick to Orlando. Would he be doing his POE with an immigration officer in London or would he have to find someone to do it with once he arrives here in Orlando?

Please do not purchase flights til you have Visa in hand. It could backfire. You will go through Immigration at the first US airport he lands in. They will direct him on landing. You can not get out of the Locked down area till you go through immigration. He will not have to search out them they will funnel them to the proper areas.

He would only be doing the POE (point of entry) at the first city of a state or territory of the USA that he arrives at. What other international cities he stops in before he gets to USA does not have anything to do with the POE. OF course he will want to make sure he has enough time to clear security to catch his connecting flights

You should also wait until you actually get visa before buying airlines tickets

His point of entry will be whichever airport he arrives at in the US and goes through customs if Orlando is his first stop in US then it will be there.. That's where he will surrender his packet and be allowed to enter. Then if he's flying to another destination he will collect his luggage and go to that airline departure.

Have you flown into Orlando on an international flight before? You get off the plane and get directed to an immigration hall to show your passport, etc. That's a POE. The difference for him is he will tell the person on the immigration desk that he is entering on a K1 visa. Normally he will be escorted from there to a room where they will process his visa and take the envelope of visa files off him. He might have to wait if they have other visas to process. Then he goes on to baggage claim to collect his luggage, turns in his customs form, and out the door to you.
