You can order a tax transcript for free from the IRS, just go to www.irs.gov - they send them out in the mail fairly quickly. It's a printout of all your tax information for whatever year you requested.

You either request return transcript from IRS or send them complete tax return - 1040, W2, all schedules.

They prefer the tax transcripts so go to the IRS web site and order them for whatever years that show you are married.

You should have letters notarized. This shows that the person who signed the letter is the actual person and not just someone making up letters on their own. All the notary is doing is saying that the person who is signing it is that person. The notary is not saying the information in the letter is true or not.

It all depends where you live but I think most states are going to be similar. I am in Ohio. I am actually a notary myself. I can only charge a couple of dollars to notarize something but I never do.

Check with your bank to see if someone there can notarize documents for you. Keep in mind that it is the person who writes the letter who must have it notarized. They need to sign the letter in front of the notary so the notary can witness the signature.
