layover !! need help..

hello ! my fiance will book a ticket and the layover will be in korea.. i am under k1 and my sister lives in seoul korea.. my question is when the time i get to korea lets says layover will be 11hours-2days can i visit my sister in her house in seoul and stay there while im waiting on my next connecting flight? can i do that without a problem? thanks

I flew once from the US to Eastern Europe via Munich and had a 23 hour and 55 minute layover. The bag I checked in were tagged to my final destination. When I arrived in Munich, I went though Passport Control to enter the EU, took the train to the City Center explored the area and spent the night at a youth hostel. Next day I took the train back to the airport collected my boarding pass, went though Passport Control (to leave the EU) and got on my flight. When I arrived at my final destination, because I was one of the last ones off the plane and through immigration the bag I checked in, in the US 2 days earlier was traveling around the belt in baggage claim.

Only issue that I had was when I went through Exit Passport Control, the officer seemed confused. He looked at my passport, looked at me, scanned my passport, looked at his computer, flipped through the stamp pages, looked at his computer again, shook his head, looked at his watch, stamped my passport, and gave it back to me. Turns out the officer who stamped my passport at Exit Passport Control was the same officer who stamped my passport at Entrance Passport Control the day before.

In terms of the layover in Korea if it is the time there you might want to check with the airline if they consider it a layover or not. I believe most airlines consider it a layover if it is less then 24 hours.

Are you saying the layover is 11 hours, and it spans over 2 calendar days?

Just done some quick google-ing, and looks like Filipinos need visitors visa to

enter Korea (exiting the airport).

Besides, if it's 11 hours, I'm not sure that's enough time to do much.

You'll probably spend...

1. more than at least an hour to go through the security check exit

2. do the round-trip to her sister's residence through very congested traffic in Korea

3. And then return to airport and then go through the long line of security checks

Local Korean embassy can probably give you clear answer on how you can leave the airport and reenter.

Assuming there is a way to do this...you might consider spending time together near the airport...

Likely a non-issue, dependent on the security areas/policies of the particular airport.

There are two questions you need answer for. 1) do you need a visa to leave and enter Korea. Google for the answer. 2) I serious doubt that your sister can get into the secured area where you will be if indeed you'll need a visa and your not able to get one prior to you arriving.

I don't think this meeting will take place. Prior planning might of helped but at this late date it's my opinion you're going to not see her. Sorry.

yes korea needs a visa.. and i already called korean embassy about getting a 2 days visa but i dont have a work.. im unemployed and one requirements to get a korean visa is i need to have a job..so i asked them if i can go out from the airport to seoul and they said yes i can.. but most k1 i asked they said i cant.. i dont know which is true..

Filipinos can get into (south)Korea for 30 days visa free, if they have a visa to the U.S.

That's the way it was when I checked a few months back.

Should be able to visit with sister without an issue I would think.

Good...sounds like you've got a plan.

11 hours is definitely way too short to venture out too far,

but it's long enough to get out of the Inchon airport

to get a quick experience with Korea.

If you are timely efficient, you can squeeze in a mini 1/3 day tour (near the airport city) in Korea

while you are there. It's expensive to organize a trip to Korea from US later. :-)
