I currently live in NJ, US and I graduated from University on May and right now I am trying to find a job where company is willing to sponsor for H1B visa... The only reason I haven't gotten a job yet is because all the companies, I went for interview, are not willing to provide sponsorship. Today, I was talking to one of my friends about this and he said that if I get hired I could sponsor my own H1B and just get the paper work from the company. So, I was wondering if there is any lawyer here who would know how these things work and be able to answer some of my questions I would greatly appreciate it.

In any case, if this is the wrong place to ask these kinds of questions, please, could you let me know more fitting place so I can ask there.

Thank you.

Your friend is wrong.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

By sponsoring he means paying for it. There's a lot more to sponsoring than just payments and you're getting close to fraud this way - you're not supposed to pay fees anyway.

The biggest issue in my current situation is that the positions I apply for, companies are only willing to sponsor for senior and higher positions, so I was wondering if the issue is that companies are not willing to spend money to sponsor entry level position. That is why I was wondering if I take care of payment part myself, will companies be willing on taking care of other part... I am not really sure how does the H1B sponsorship work in general, thats why I am trying to find more information on this.

First - paying your own fees is illegal. You may burn you chances down with companies by even suggesting it.

I see, well, that makes me a bit sad, but thank you very much for answering my questions!
