Hi Everyone

We are now out of status.and it seems will continue to be for a while. This is due to the fact that we can't seem to get an appointment for AOS before February, with the nearest Surgeon General and at a cost of $150 per person.

Well, there is another doctor available about 4 hours drive but they require $450 per person, and the exams are covered over a 2-day period. One day for lab work and the other for paperwork. However, from what I have seen with the exception of a flu-shot we are up to date and the flu-shot can be had easily.

If am correct the I-693 must be submitted with the AOS package yes?

Suggestions anyone...We are in Arkansas

Thanks

Also, if I recall... we paid 300. That was for the exam, vacation, paperwork. We thought all the required vacs were completed before the interview, but the civil surgeon did another TB test. Its all a scam for money,my opinion. If you want to get this over with.. either look around or pay the 450 but either way you need it for AOS.

These immigration processes are not for the faint of heart, or light of wallet.

Has there been changes??? I thought that you just send in your DS-3025 with your AOS paperwork. Also, what do you mean by you are out of status, you just got here on a K-1 and were married within your 90 day requirement.

Unless there have been changes, that specifically state you must see a civil surgeon, I would send in a copy of my DS-3025.

Regarding AOS and medical forms: This thread about I-693 and DS-3025 is a very useful classic, particularly Nich-Nick's #5 response:

No, you do not necessarily need to see a civil surgeon for an I-693. Did you have all the required vaccinations marked off on the DS-3025 at the time of your K-1 medical? If you did, then just send a copy of the DS-3025. The medical is valid if done within a year of filing for AOS. You don't need to get or pay for a new medical. No..When we did our medical we were current to the time as there was no Varicella island-wide. However prior to coming to the US we all got it, the kids got their first while I got my second.

Then when we got here they got their second Varicella and some other shots that the schools required and they were not within sufficient time intervals before we left Jamaica.

At the health clinic here we have a printout showing when our next shots are due 2024, I think, and I was told there is nothing except for a flu shot which they know of.

Now when I call the the Civil Surgeons office that deals with AOS it would seem we have the required tests already done such as the TB, MMR etc but would require one for Syphilis...smh

So confused.

Ok, looked at the link to Nich and our Ds-3025 result says

Vaccination History Incomplete

Applicant may be eligible for blanket waivers because vaccinations not medically appropriate.

So based on my interpretation should we go ahead and send in copy of DS-3025 along with AOS?/

Since you did not get the varicella at the K-1 exam, then you need to see a civil surgeon to have your vaccinations transcribed onto an I-693. It can be difficult to find a CS that will not insist on a medical and tests you do not need. You will have to call around, sometimes even call some a little farther away from where you live. This thread is long, but you might be able to find a CS near enough to you that will not require you get and pay for a medical exam that you are not required to get. Make sure you tell the ones you call that you are adjusting from a K-1 visa and it clearly states in the instructions that you are not required to get a new medical. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/231026-civil-surgeons-who-dont-rip-you-off/page-13
