I just wanted to drop by and give an update. After our immigration lawyer gave us incorrect information regarding the whole process and when I finally lost my patience and started digging (and with advice given on this website/forum here) I realised I had to act quickly seeing as our petition expired on the 22 of July. Our K1 had been approved back in April, but our lawyer kept insisting we had to wait to be assigned an interview date. Wrong. We had to schedule the medical appointment and fill out the d-160 first!!! So long and very tense story short, I finally have an interview date at the embassy on the 11th of August!! Woohoo!

So what is the order of doing things? Our case has been sent to the embassy last week. Do I have to wait until I hear from the embassy? Or can I also start filling out the d-160and schedule an appointment?

Also how does the medical appoint work? Does the embassy tell you what clinic to go to?

Hi! It depends on each consulate as far as I understand. I am dealing with the US Embassy in London. I see you are in the Netherlands? I would first consult your particular embassy's website. In my case, the NVC forwarded my information to the embassy. The embassy notified me of such and it was at that point (had I heeded the embassy's instructions and not my immigration lawyer's) that I should've scheduled my medical appointment and completed the D-160. Once I had ALL my original and necessary documents in hand, I filled out the applicant readiness form and it was then that I was given an interview date. I confirmed that date by registering and completing an online form which they direct you to and paid my visa fee.

Hope that helps?

And forgive me, I didn't address your medical query... The embassy in London only deals with one doctor's practice which is in Knightsbridge. So once the embassy notified me they had received my info and gave me instructions to go ahead with the process, I called the doctors myself and made an appointment. Also in my case with the Knightsbridge doctors, they essentially take care of forwarding your results to the embassy themselves.

so after 240 days I finally received a text regarding my case, I was so excited thinking its an approval, I almost scream at work....to my disappointment, its an RFE!! I am wrecking my brain trying to figure out what they could want! I called and they cannot tell me :( so basically I have to wait about 2 weeks to receive. How long do they take to approve cases after RFE?? I was so careful , I did not expect to get one :crying::cry:

So sorry to hear that!!! You should be approved in about 3 weeks to a month after they receive what they want.

I'm sorry to hear that. Would you consider setting up an InfoPass appointment to see if they can give you any insight? If you are able, perhaps by suggesting to the ISO that by waiting another 2 weeks to receive the information, it further prolongs the approval of your application, when if they can give you the information now, you can remedy the situation and not have to wait another month or so.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will try. If I go will they tell me? have they told anyone before? It would be such a blessing if I didn't have to wait a whole another month.

Have you tried contacting congressman or senator's office? I think you will be out of normal processing times soon so you should be able to do an inquiry based on that. Unfortunately, there really is no words that could make our situation better :clock: Only time can....
