Hi. Im Filipina mid 20's currently working in Abu Dhabi. I just applied for tourist visa online to visit my boyfriend. My plan is to stay there for a couple of days only and i will come back here for my job. Should I tell VO the real purpose of my visit? My funds will only reach to 3K USD. Would it matter? Its only for a week. Thats the longest my company has to approve for emergency leave. Please help.

A very long way to go for a few days. Seems that you will need all your savings for the ticket.

No harm trying.

i think its not good idea to apply tourist visa and telling that the reason is to visit your bf here in united states..think twice and talk to someone who have been in that situation.no harm in trying but be careful and goodluck

Based on experience from other Filipinos I know it is a big advantage for approval to have traveled to other countries and returned.

I think it would be a mistake to not be truthful with the Interviewer.

Be truthful with the C.O. Lot's of people get tourist visas to visit their boyfriends/girlfriends. The thing is that a C.O. could care less why you want to visit the USA, they are more concerned about why you will leave the USA.

In addition, note that a tourist visa does not guarantee you entry to the USA. An Immigration Officer can turn you away at the gates if they feel you are immigrating. So that $2000.00 you just spent on a round trip ticket will just go to waste if you never got past POE. Something to consider.

That said, it would be much easier for your boyfriend to visit you. Ask him specifically why he cannot travel. Most likely he's never been out of the USA and is afraid to travel outside his country. It's something I had to overcome from personal experience. It all came down to my love for my fiancee (now wife) was stronger than my fear of traveling outside the USA. It turned out to be a very uplifting and memorable experience and I can't wait to travel outside the USA again!
