Why do you have such a hard time understanding that people can appreciate what they have at the same time knowing that's not where it all stops? You might be able to live with yourself being giddy with your job and #######'s open door, but others just might think the way to appreciate such things is to figure out a way more people can partake in the same.

I ask you also, are we reading the same email? I think the complainers here are seeing themselves in this email and are taking personal offense. I guess it's a matter of the truth hurting. Everyone else seems to think the email was correct and appropriate.

I'm talking about YOUR junk accusations throughout this thread about people being jealous and unhappy and living sad lives. People can be liberal or green or conservative, be very happy with what they have, understand very well the benefits of living in American society and participating in American politics and still have lots to say about the things that totally suck.

Like I said, you might be able to live with yourself in your own little happy with your job world, but others see the way to even more satisfaction in that which we all hold dear is to work for even more people to be able to have what it takes to live a decent life.

Indeed. And I'd be inclined to think that many people share that view as well. As far as the use of the term "best", I'd be more inclined to use the word "free". We are, after all, free to dissent practically *any* notion here. Not so in many areas of the globe. And ####### is free to use his authority to voice his opinion, too, as long as the powers that be in his company see it as no detriment to the company's future and reputation.

As to Gary's allegiance to #######, if the purpose of the email were to build morale and team cohesiveness throughout the ranks, then I'd say, as distasteful as it might appear to some, in Gary's case (and quite possibly in many other cases in ATS), ####### certainly achieved that.

I don't know to what countries you have traveled to so I don't know what you have seen. I have been to true third world countries and have seen poverty and oppression. That sort of thing on that scale just does not happen in America. Our poorest and most oppressed in this country is better than the average in most other countries. (notice I didn't say all)

I've not been to a third world country and honestly have no desire to go. I'm going to trust everybody else's accounts of those nations and be glad that I live where I do. But I could think of a couple of other places on the planet where I would be just as happy as I am here.

And in those nations, I wouldn't have to be worried about whether or not I need to be further beholding to my employer for providing me with health benefits. Since the country who is taxing him for doing business there has put that burden on him - the entreprenuer.

That comes back to what I was saying. That is the greatest part of being in America and one of the things that I find so wrong when I hear a lib b!tch. There is no other country that gives you the freedom to become whatever you want to be. Social class, wealth or race is not a barrier. ####### started out at the bottom, nothing special about him. But he made it. There are plenty of people from all walks of life that has made it. There are barriers if you let there be. It all comes down to basic philosophy's. Some think that there needs to be rules and regulations to make everyone happy and there are others that think the true road to happiness and success is achieved through your own work. Take care of yourself or let others take care of you.

Well, coming from a conservative...I have to say that calling the opposition names probably won't get them to listen to you, or better yet, win them over to your side. I realize it can be entertaining, but in a debate, one of the points is to get the other party to understand and agree with your point of view. I don't see how that could happen if they're being called names.

Gary, take for example, the Philippines - where a select few who are wealthy while a large majority of people live in poverty. Do you suppose it's because all those poor people are just lazy and jealous of those who are wealthy? Do you suppose that they only need to work hard enough and they too can lift themselves up the economic ladder because a free market creates such possibilities for all? That's an incredibly naive and simplistic understanding of economics and a failure to recognize that economic injustice does exist in a free market.

Sorry, I have to come up with some sort of "collective" name for the group of people I am referring to. If lib is a derogatory label then I will find another. I realize that it's painting with broad brush but that is the best term I could come up with. Tell you what, for the next 20 posts they can call me "conservative pig".
