I don't seem to be able to find any real clear instructions. If I follow the direction that the government is giving me ONLY, I need to fill out the I-864 AoS, and my wife needs to fill out the DS-260 IV Application (which she has done). Is this right? The guide provided by this site which I mostly followed up to this point doesn't say anything about a DS-260. Instead it says she should be filling out an OF-169 and an OF-230. There are other parts of the site that say those two forms are no longer required and she should fill out a form DS-261. I don't know what is true, and what isn't. I know things change, so I am just asking for a little guidance from here.

She has finished the DS-260. What about the DS-261?

I, and our joint sponsor, need to fill out an I-864 and mail it in. Is that correct? Is that all?

Is there and up to date, accurate guide people can go by now?

I've never heard of those forms before. The website Dualie gave you is a good one. Below is what I did:

1. I, the petitioner, filled out the DS-261. After about a week, I ......
2. went to this site https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/and was able to pay my AOS fee. Once that was accepted, I...

3. Printed off the cover sheet they emailed me and filled out the AOS for myself and one for my dad, my husband's joint sponsor. Then I...

4. Mailed it in to the NVC.

During this whole time my DS-261 was still 'in process'. Once that was 'accepted', I was able to

1. pay my DS-260 fee. Once that was accepted, I...

2. printed of the cover sheet they emailed me and filled out the DS-260 online. I called to make sure that I myself could do it instead of my husband. Then I...

3. collected all the supporting documents for the DS-260 along with the cover sheet and mailed it.

Come to find out, I guess you can do send in the AOS and the DS-260 supporting documents at the same time. If I had known this, I think I would have saved us a least a month of waiting, if not more.

Call the NVC as much as you can and ask questions. The information online is just so unclear!

Good luck!

The main guide on this site does have outdated forms on it. Please follow the wikis. :)

Another example of mismanagement at the government level can't even update their own site, anything to slow you down what a shame
