Hello,

I came here with a J1 visa and I fell in love and got married to an american. Now I am struggling to file my documents because is so comlicated. First my husband didn't have enough income to support me and we had to find a sponsor and the next thing to do is to go to a civil surgeon for that medical examination. We live in Old Orchard Beach in Maine and I called some surgeons I found on the official website but most of them are not providing these services anymore. The only place which is in Lewiston, they do that but with a starting price 500 dollars. I read that this should cost between 200 and 500, so starting price 500 seems to be to much for me. I am from Bulgaria and I have all the immunizations I need. Please help me to find a pace, which is affordable.

Kristina

You have all your vaccines but without proofs in English, they are useless. You have to do TB and blood test also, that's why it is expensive.

My husband had all his shots also, and the civil surgeon he visited accepted his foreign records once we had them translated. Careful when picking, I'd call around first. Some surgeons won't accept other records at all, and simply have a flat fee requiring you get all the shots again.

USCIS has a list of CS, you can type in your zip and a few should come up: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=CIV

If still none of those work for you, you might have to travel some distance to find one. Unfortunately they aren't everywhere.
