As Salamu Alaikum and Hi to all my friends.

Sorry I had been very busy so couldnt participate in discussion for a long time.

US Embassy called me on Wednesday but I couldnt attend the call. Then after sending an email they have asked me to come for oath and fingerprints along with some documents.

I want to know, I had my interview in 2011 and then I had my fingerprints. What is the purpose of re-taking fingerprints. What is Oath in IR-1 visa?

Walikam Salam

I am glad to see your doing well, Your interview was so long ago, they need updated fingerprints for their records plus since your greencard will be made now, they always need fingerprints for that purpose.

Your getting your visa real soon insha Allah! good news

So with fingerpeints I have to take oath of allegiance or what? I need to know what is this procedure since I never heard of it before from any VJ member in spouse category.

Yes it is the same oath you took the first interview.

For all those who are frustrated with the visa process: My family member is going through the visa process that is outside of the normal timeline, too. But the difference between you and me is that I am an employee of the department of homeland security; I work for one of the twenty-two agencies that make up DHS (I do not want to name my agency). If you think you are frustrated knowing you have done all you can to follow up with your love ones visa application process, just think how frustrated it is for me knowing that there are things I can do to follow up with my family member’s visa application process but I am prevented from doing so because those channels are official channels and can ONLY be utilized if I am conducting an OFFIAL INQUIRY IN THE OFFICAL COUSE OF MY DUTIES. I cannot even disclose my affiliation with DHS throughout the visa process, as per U.S. Government Ethics Rules, to protect the integrity of the system.

Unlike most, if not all, of you, it is much easier for the government to find information about me and my family member; all they have to do is cross reference to my employment file which contains my background package where I had to list everything about everything about my life going back to when I was in diapers. I was thoroughly investigated and every detail about me was verified to the last letter before I got hired on. In fact, my background package took longer than usual because I was born in Pakistan. So you would think that if they wanted to verify anything about me, all they have to do is look into my employee file, but that is not how it goes.

Your frustration is understandable but understand that the system is not perfect. In light of the threat we are facing, no one in their right mind is going to sign off on a file that has missing information in it. Sometimes it takes a while to gather up all the information so as a result, things get delayed. Men and women of DHS put their lives on line every single day to protect and serve. No one wakes up in the morning to go to work to screw with peoples visa files, as some people here claimed. When you marry a foreign national, you need to keep in mind that while the normal processing time is about a year or longer, it can take longer based on your individual situation.

For those who think just because they are holding U.S. citizenship, their love ones visa application should receive special consideration, consider this: I was personally involved in a situation where we had to provide service to a family member of one of the former presidents of the United States. The family member was asking for expedited service that is available to certain U.S. citizens but was not available to them at that time based on the information available to us. So we had to tell them that the only service available to them is the standard service, they are not eligible for expedited service. So an individual who, at one time, freely roamed around the white house, had secret service escort, which is also part of DHS, flew on Air Force One was not even being afforded a service that is available to ordinary citizens. After being understandably upset for a short while, they decided to go for the standard service.

At the end, I would say to those who have either successfully finished the visa process or are on the verge of finishing: Welcome to the United States, a bright future awaits you. And for those who are still waiting, keep your head up, better days are ahead; I am in this with you as there is no light at the end of the tunnel for my family member as of right now.

Wow, I guess I will let go of that idea that just because I am a U.S. citizen, i hold any special consideration, The least that can help is to have administrative processing have a limit, like lets say a maximum a year no more then that, why are people who applied in 2011 2012 2013 2014 still waiting for visas and they are in the spouse categories. With USCIS atleast they give you a timeframe on when your application will be improved, background checks are done there too, but they do it in a timely manner, once it gets to the embassy level, its all luck after that to get it done.

No matter how you look at it, the immigration system is broken in this country where illegals are given priority over people who are doing this process from the start in a legal way.

I am so done after this whole experience, never want to see or hear about an embassy/uscis or immigration.

It is a wonderful procedure for all visa applications. It is a normal process and it does not mean anything is wrong with your case. Some cases take longer to process than others.

This is a normal reply from the embassy when the case is still in AP and they don't need documents or a new medical. The embassy is correct in that they will contact the applicant if they need anything or are ready to issue the visa.
