Request for Tax Transcript says it is unavailable

Any thoughts on this? I'm sure I'm missing something but I don't know what it is. I requested tax transcripts for 2012 & 2013 to add to our evidence package I am putting together. Upon the request for the 2012 one, no problem The request for the 2013 one returns the following results:

A transcript is not available for the year you have requested. Please complete Form 4506-T or contact us at www.irs.gov.

Married Filing Jointly?

If you filed jointly with your spouse, tax account data is listed under the social security number of the primary taxpayer shown on your tax return.

It looks like if you filed jointly, the tax transcript would be on the account of the person whose name is first on the taxes. Therefore, whose name is first on your taxes, yours or your spouse's? If it's not showing up on your tax account, you have to check it under your spouse's account.

On a side note, I was completely unaware of this. Don't both spouses have a right to a joint tax transcript? It doesn't make sense that the transcript would only be available under the primary spouse's account.

I think it makes sense. Even with filing jointly, it's one main SSN and a secondary one. It makes sense that they would file it under the primary SSN. Filing it under both is more work than they want to do lol.

I don't think that's the case, I requested our tax transcripts using my SSN and my husband is actually listed first both years...

I also had quite a bit of trouble obtaining one year of our tax transcripts because they had input the spelling of our address incorrectly. Could that be the problem? Maybe try calling or walking in at a local office?

Register to download ur tax transcripts. It doesnt matter who filed as primary, your info should still pop up.

I can log in as either person and get the same list of options and responses. It isn't the person that is the problem. I think I may have an answer though in that the way our taxes are paid out during the year it hasn't actually updated yet and I can't access it. I'm going to have to send in what I have and hope that's enough this time around!

I tried to get my transcript online and couldn't; went to the IRS office and met the most obnoxious security guard on the planet ("Come back tomorrow." "What time" "Just come early." "What's your name?" "John." "What's your last name?" "You don't need to know my last name" as he held the door open for me to leave).

I wound up having to go to my congressman's office, and they were very helpful.
