Hi to all VJ Members ! : )

First and foremost, I would like to thank this site for being so informative and helpful on my visa journey. The members are quick to reply. Thank God ! my journey was over ! ( from my AOS - ROC to N-400 ). I did not hire any lawyer for all those things - of course my hubby helped me :) . ( My case was not complicated anyway ). I just only used this site, follow all the requirements needed and all the members were able to help me. Thank you very much to all !!!!

Below is my timeline for my citizenship :

Dec. 14, 2014 - sent my N-400 application

Jan. 14, 2014 - Biometrics

Mar. 26, 2014 - Interview

April 15, 2014 - Oath Taking ( Chicago Court House ) - because of my name change

April 24, 2014 - apply US Passport

May 01, 2014 - received US Passport,

The rest - I updated my SSN, my job, bank account, credit cards and DMV.

Now, I am enjoying my new name.

Thanks again everyone and Good luck to your journey !!!!!!

Is your stepson a minor? If yes, do you know he automatically becomes a US citizen when his mom becomes a USC? You can go down the N600 route if you choose to, but it might save you some $$ if you just use his mom's naturalization certificate to apply for his US passport...

N400

Filing based on 3yrs/USC Spouse. 3 year residency anniversary is in August 2014. Filed immediately after the 90-day early filing mark (May 2014)

05/06/2014 - Mailed N-400

05/15/2014 - Check cashed

05/12/2014 - NOA Date

06/11/2014 - Biometrics Appointment

09/15/2014 - Inline for interview scheduling (was stuck in "Initial Review" for over 3 months!)

10/27/2014 - Scheduled for interview

12/01/2014 - Interview

12/19/2014 - I AM A US CITIZEN!

Hi Mrs. O,

Thanks for the reply regarding the N-600 versus simply getting a passport. Yep, we definitely know that he becomes a citizen at the moment that Ann does. This is something my wife and I have continually gone back and forth on since neither one of us are big fans of giving USCIS any more money at this point than we absolutely have to. It's funny that your reply would come when it did, since just that evening we were discussing it again. I think as the fateful day approaches, we will probably have more clarity on the direction we want to go.

Thanks again and God bless!

Joe
