Vaccinations requirements

hello Vjers,

I was wondering if during the medical exam, you do not meet certain vaccinations requirements, will everything just stop there until you get all of them?

Also, since some of them require multiple shots, will this stop the process until all shots are administered? (some require to be done several months apart). But based on the VJ document below - if its a series, is the first one enough?

Q. Certain vaccine series can only be completed with multiple visits to the civil surgeon. Am I required to complete the entire series before the civil surgeon can sign the Form I-693?
A. You are only required to receive a single dose of each vaccine when you visit the civil surgeon. You are encouraged to follow up with your private health care provider to complete the series. Once you have received the single dose appropriate at the time, the civil surgeon can sign and certify the Form I-693.

Q. I am pregnant and do not wish to receive any vaccinations. Do I still have to get them to be able to obtain permanent resident status in the United States?
A. If you are pregnant, the CDC's Technical Instructions direct the civil surgeon how to evaluate the vaccines you are able to receive during pregnancy. If the civil surgeon cannot safely administer a required vaccine, he/she will annotate the Form I-693 by marking the vaccine as contraindicated. Bring your vaccination record with you. The doctor will decide what is age appropriate to give you.

You could also stop by your primary care physician like we did and they'll know at least a few of the vaccines that they could give you. My husband was just missing the MMR combo (measles, mumps and rubella) and the flu shot.

Only about 4 vaccines are required (this can vary by country of course.) But if there is a vaccination you need and requires multiple injections, then you are fine as long as you get the first one at the medical and the second at a later date. Your interview and/or visa will not be postponed for the second vaccination or series to be complete. just the first vaccination is fine.

Do you know which 4?

Based on the list from the USCIS, there's this one

"Haemophilus influenzae type B"

My wife went to the clinic to get this shot, and they said the whole country doesn't have it anymore. or has run out of it....I wonder if this will be a problem.

Start with the vaccinations already now. I started a year ago but we didn't send in the I-130 until September this year.

You need to have your mumps/measles/rubella, polio, tetanus/diphtheria and hepatitis b up to date.

From what I understood from my doctor, Pertussis and Haemophilus influenza B only affects infants and young children so only any accompanying children will need vaccinations against those.

Rotavirus is also for children. Pneumococcal is for children under 5 and adults over 65.

Varicella and HPV is no longer required.

Finally, you need to get meningococcal as well as normal influenza, if your interview is between October 1st and March 31st.
