Hello,

I am new to the forum so I apolgoize if I make and mistakes.

I am 30 born and raised in Florida. My girlfriend is born and raised in Cambodia. She came to my state for a conference for educators back in August; she was 1 of 5 selected out of her whole country so it was fairly presitious. Anyhow, to make a long story short, we met in Orlando, FL where her convention was held on a whim and after hanging out for 4 days, we sort of fell in love. She was only here for a week and then she moved back to her home in Cambodia and back to her teaching career. We have spoken every day since and I really have grown fond of her.

Her tourist visa is still valid. I would like to buy her a ticket to come here and stay with me for a few months but I do not want her to get in trouble or for the government to think that we are trying to bypass the immigration laws. She still has ties to her country but I realize that a single female from anywhere will look suspect. As I said, she has a job as a teacher back home and stays in the largest city of her country. She is not wealthy but has a good career.

So, I guess my question is, what are the odds that she will get denied at the border? The ticket alone will cost several thousand dollars and if there is a high probability she will be denied then it just makes sense for me to fly over there. She has no other ties to this country other than me; no other family and friends here. Our ultimate goal is to see how it goes for the few months she is here and if it works out then we will start the K-1 visa process. If she is questioned can she just be honest and say that? Thanks everyone in advance for your help!

Brett

The fact that she has been to America before and returned home gives her decent odds of being allowed back into the USA. If her tourist visa is still valid, I'd say go for it and take a chance.

People visit Florida from all over the world. Presumably this would be her next vacation. Bring evidence of her Job etc only to be shown if asked which they probably will not be.

Should I provide a letter which shows my intention to house her and pay for her expenses while she is here? If show should I show proof of a job and that I own my home?

They don't care about what you can do for her, in many cases that would give even more incentive for her to stay. Her ties and her resources are what will help.

Sounds good, wish us luck she is coming Nov. 16th! I am just trying to do things the right way. I actually work for a sensitive agency in the U.S. Government so I want to make sure everything is transparent. Thanks for the advice.
