OK ALL, JUST MY THOUGHT HERE... I HAVE READ ALOT OF GOOD HELPFUL TOPICS HERE. BUT WHEN U GET SOMEONE WHO IS MARRIED OR GOING TO GET MARRIED AND THEY ASK US WHAT THERE FUTURE SPOUSE BELIEVES ARE OR WHAT HOLIDAYS THEY CELEBRATE.

COME ON YOU R MARRING THEM OR R MARRIED TO THEM... I THINK THAT YOU SOULD KNOW THAT ABOUT YOUR SPOUSE BEFORE U EVER GET THIS FAR... JUST MY THOUGHT. MY HUSBAND AND I SIT HERE AND READ THIS STUFF AND ITS LIKE. WHAT DID YOU GUYS ALL TALK ABOUT ON THE NET IF YOU DON'T HAVE A CLUE WHAT THEY CELEBRATE. I MEAN I WONDER IF THEY EVER TALKED ABOUT HAVE KIDS...

SO PLEASE FUTURE BRIDES AND GROOMS COMMUNICATE WITH ONE ANOTHER... THEN YOU WON'T HAVE TO ASK US THESE QUESTIONS THAT R MEANT ONLY FOR U 2.. GOD BLESS!!!

Is this in response to the VDay thread?

All I can say is that sometimes it's useful to know if something your SO does is personal or cultural, so I guess that's when posting those questions is ok...

First of all I'm a wee bit baffled as to why you made this thread in addition to pm'ing me. I posted that question not to ask if my husband is doing something wrong/right and not because it wasn't discussed beforehand. It was but it slipped my mind....how he celebrates Valentines day wasn't exactly a dealbreaker...sowwwy.

The purpose of the question was to see how other Muslims act on that day. It's a little hard when everyone around you is celebrating something and you are not. Kind of like a kid at a birthday party who isn't allowed to celebrate or eat the cake. I posted something similar around Christmas and got some wonderful feedback.

If you don't like a thread, here's a tip...don't open it up!

omg some people drive me nuts.... however, this is what i asked. i didnt say your husband was doing something wrong.

i am saying y ask us... talk to him and find out for yourself i mean u did marry him right... so ask him... y marry if you dont know there believes.... so DUH to u...

THIS IS WHAT I SENT TO YOU AND THEN I ALSO MADE A POST, IT JUST GETS ME THAT PEOPLE CANT TALK TO ONE ANOTHER!!!!!!!!!!

HEY THERE JUST WONDERING HOW LONG HAVE YOU KNOWN EACH OTHER? I AM MARRIED TO A MOROCCAIN MAN AND THEY DON'T CELEBRATE VALENTINE'S DAY BUT WE HAD TALKED ABOUT ALL THAT KIND OF STUFF BEFORE WE GOT MARRIED AND I KNOW THAT HE IS OK WITH GETTING A CARD AND SOMETHING SPECIAL ON THAT SPECIAL DAY AND HE WILL ALSO DO THE SAME. HOWEVER, ITS ANOTHER DAY IN THE YEAR TO CELEBRATE THE LOVE YOU BOTH SHARE...

I HONESTLY THINK THAT U SHOULDN'T ASK ANYONE THAT QUESTION BUT FOR YOUR HUSBAND. IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. BEST OF LUCK, AND TAKE THIS EMAIL THE WAY IT'S MEANT... I AM ONLY HERE TO HELP...

MICHELLE

AND THIS IS WHAT U SENT BACK TO ME, SOUNDED SNOTTY TO ME!!!

Assalam Alaykum

Thank you. We have known each other for about a year now and we are newly married. I never put two and two together until a little while ago and figured out that the celebration stems in celebrating Saint Valentine, which of course is haram for us. DUH. lol. I don't mind asking questions on a forum to get others' opinions. I'm not sharing any intimate details about my husband and I so all is cool.

Thanks again!

ma salaama

HAPPY V-DAY!!!

it didn't sound snotty to me.

i don't think it is worth getting upset over someone else's relationship. not every couple does things the same way. i lived with my fiance for months and then dated him long distance for a long time, other couples meet once for a few days and are ready to get married.

who am i to judge them or them to judge me?

we all do things differently.

this forum is used to ask questions - seems that is all that she was doing when she asked about vday.

Didn't sound even the tiniest bit snotty to me, either - not even slightly. She was just asking a question and trying to start a conversation, for god's sake... starting a whole new thread about how 'some people drive you nuts' was just a tad unnecessary.

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

What drives me nuts even faster than someone asking questions on a message board is when people don't realize that typing in all caps is considered yelling. And don't even get me started on chat-slang. Y for Why and U for You.

I guess I just shouldn't have opened the thread...

I'm with you there. I almost posted something like that but my version was a lot, well, snottier. ;)
