Once you have recieved your EAD- roughly about 3 months after you submit the papers for EAD ap(optional) and AOS

Yes, once you arrive to the states and get married then you have yo file for AOS ( adjustment of status ) with AOS you send EAD ( employment authorization document ) and it usually takes a maximum of 90 days to be approved.

Then you get a work permit valid for a year while your Green card is in process to be aproved.

So it really depends on how fast you are on sending AOS documents to uscis after entering USA and getting married

I'll add my example: I sent my forms in September and I'm still waiting for EAD, but lots of people who sent their documents in September it took around a month for them to have it approved. Some offices seem to be faster than others but 90 days is the maximum you should wait

When you enter the US with the K1 visa, wait about 10 days and apply for an SSN. Then get married (within 90 days of POE of course), no time limit to file AOS by the way, but the sooner you file the sooner you can work.

When you submit the AOS package, you will include forms I-765 and I-131 which give you authorization to work and to travel respectively, while your AOS is pending once approved. These forms are included in the fee for the AOS, so you don't pay extra.

You will receive a combo EAD/AP doc in the mail. Do not begin working before you receive this doc, even if you check the status and it says approved. You must wait until this doc is physically in your hands, not a moment before. Good luck.

Don't have to wait 10 days for SS number. Just use your electronic I-94. My fiancé (at the time) came here September 8th. Got married October 10th. Sending his AOS on Monday. Hoping to get his EAD quickly to get his booty workin' ! lol

That's good to know, but I only suggested to wait 10 days based on the SSN guide here on VJ. The name may or may not be in the SAVE system they use to verify your status, which can add a longer wait time before receiving the SSN if they have to do manual verification.
