Be patient. Keep trying. It is frustrating trying to get on. Maybe try a different browser? I had a lot of trouble with my IE browser. I think Firefox got me in. Yes I think you could go down to the local IRS office. Of course you will be waiting.

Yeah, I had the same issue. Switched browsers, had no problem after the switch. You might want to try that OP.

Odd, I signed up with an account and can access all my Tax transcripts in seconds. They download as PDF's and I can print then off.

The planet alignment must have been wrong when you tried.

I have tried at different times of the year, on different days, different times of day. Never works. I get a "technical error" and then an error that it can't verify my identity. Glad it works for you, but trust me, it was not a one-time anomaly on my end. Just tried it again - same thing.

I actually think it's because my last name has an apostrophe and that messes up the query. I've tried entering with and without the apostrophe, various capitalization, different browsers, etc., to no avail. If I enter my maiden name I can get one step farther, but can't get past the address/SSN steps because it keeps telling me the information doesn't match their records, despite trying my current address and older ones that would match that name. If it would skip the name part and just let me enter my SSN it would be a vast improvement. The "by mail" option goes that route and I can order transcripts that way.

I'm the USC petitioner.

What trouble are you having on the IRS site?

I was able to login and start printing my tax transcripts in few minutes.

All kinds of trouble. It said my info was wrong, it couldn't verify me, then when I decided to make an account and create a user ID it said that the username I chose didn't meet the requirements (when it really did) and then it locked me out for 24 hours. The next day I tried it an it locked me out again. That's when I gave up, especially when I read that a lot of people have these kinds of problems. I rather go to the IRS office than waste my time with that website.
