Anyone else not surprised by this move from the most transparent administration ever?

The Obama administration is claiming executive privilege over more than 15,000 documents related to Operation Fast and Furious, including correspondence between Attorney General Eric Holder and his wife, according to records received Wednesday night by the watchdog group Judicial Watch.

Last month, a federal judge ordered the Justice Department to release to Judicial Watch the list of documents, known as a “Vaughn index,” that it is withholding from the public, calling its requests for further delays “unconvincing.”

The 1,307-page Vaughn index lists 15,662 documents related to Operation Fast and Furious that the Obama administration is asserting executive privilege over—the first time that full list and description of the records has been released.

According to Judicial Watch, the withheld documents include communications between top officials at the Justice Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), as well as with the United States Ambassador to Mexico.

The Obama administration is also asserting executive privilege over nearly 20 emails between Holder and his wife Sharon Malone.

I can see that the White House( as usual ) is doing their very best to get to the bottom of this scandal and proving once again how this administration's policies and reasoning is clear as mud.

It's the fault of a movie maker and a protest gone wrong

No scandal here folks .... Just business as usual .

Unless Holder's wife is working for the Justice Department I don't think correspondence between him and his wife should be turned over.

apparently they also want correspondence between him and his mother

The dept of Justice claims thousands of exemptions to FOIA every year and was doing so before the Kenyan took office.

Please stop focusing on things that don't matter. Go read your bible or the constitution. There is no voter fraud, no fast and furious (other than Vin Diesel's), no illegal immigration. These are NOT the droids you are looking for...

As far as I am aware, privacy is still valued in the US. If the emails are between correspondents who have no political position, and who play no role in decision making or workings of government, these records are probably rightly legally off limits. It's rather silly to suppose otherwise.

They had to follow the due process of law as far as I am aware. Do you know otherwise?

I know next to nothing about the investigation, since I had no part in it. Unless you were a part of it and have something to add to edify us all???

Didn't work like that for Nixon, did it?

" Special Counsel Archibald Cox, a former United States Solicitor General under President John F. Kennedy, asked District Court Judge John Sirica to subpoena eight relevant tapes to confirm the testimony of White House Counsel John Dean."

this sounds like a targeted investigation.

15,000 documents smells a little like a fishing expedition

The sterling rule should apply here.

In her case, they claimed a "deliberative process" exemption: that she was supposedly part of the deliberative process, helping make decisions in the matter. She's an OB/GYN. Please explain how their claim makes any kind of sense.

Why bring it up if you know nothing about it?

The same reason you post here. ;) Lots of people talk about stuff they don't know on here. That is part of the learning process, right?

The fast and the furious is getting covered up. Shouldn't be, but them's the facts.
