Hi everyone,

I will be getting my EAD soon and I wish to get my SSN ASAP. My addresses are in Chicago but right now I'm in Massachusetts for school. Can I apply for SSN from Massachusetts? Will it be a problem later on during the AOS Interview? Or is there any way that I can apply for a SSN in Chicago without having to personally go to the Social Security office? Your inputs will be of great help :)

09/6/2014: AOS/EAD/AP sent (delivered on 09/09/2014)

09/15/2014: NOA1 texts/emails (x3) - Check cashed

09/19/2014: NOA1 hardcopies (x3) received

09/29/2014: Biometrics appointment notice received

10/10/2014: Biometrics

10/27/2014: I 485 Changed to Testing and Interview

11/04/2014: EAD Production

11/12/2014: EAD Delivered

I don't think so it would cause a problem. Make sure you are still there when SSA send the card. It usually takes up to a week to get the card. Mine took 5 days. Good luck!

You can apply at ANY SSA office in the US.
