Hello VJers!

It feels so good to finally be in the forum! :) We are just starting to research this process, so can you all help us out? My fiance and I were planning to get married on Dec. 13,2014. Our 90 days are up on January 15. If we file for AOS right away after we are married, is this too late?? Should we have a courthouse ceremony before, like right away when he gets into the States? So confused.

All that we are and all that will be we dedicate to the One who brought us together

You can file right after your wedding. You can even file after his 90 days is up. There is no deadline for filing AOS, you just need to marry within the 90 days, not file within the 90 days. But the sooner you file, the sooner he gets his EAD/AP and eventually green card.

By law you will be ok. I do not know when you are leaving Phnom Penh but keep in mind that you will have to file AOS after marriage. Obtaining certified marriage certificate will take some time. A "courthouse" wedding will not cost a lot then you can begin the AOS and obtain green card sooner. Read AOS forums. Tee will have to apply for SSN during this time. Wish you both the best. Enjoy the humidity. M in S'ville
