Read all the comments and I'd say hubby and I are obvious winners in terms of age difference.Haha.3 years and counting of a very happy relationship here. :) I was asked by the Filipina screener during the interview about our age difference and she started it by saying."I am so sorry if you find this offensive, but I have to ask...".I laughed and told her not to worry coz people ask me all the time. ;)

hmmm... old enough to be her daughther

You start the thread with "pls take no offence", one poster specifically states they hate father daughter comparisons to their relationship and then you make exactly that comparison. If you are not trying to cause offence you are going about it a strange way!

There is a double standard with embassies. Younger females and older guys no problem. Younger men and older women is more often

a problem and being viewed with suspicion. High fraud embassies will scrutinize age differences more than low fraud embassies.

i hope they do its very unfair that family members have to wait longer versus those on fiancee visa, they get here much quicker and later on find out its not legit

There is no greater fool than the person who lets other people's comments influence who they marry. One of the most important things for a man to learn is that people say things not because they believe them but to put you down out of jealousy, envy, and spite.

People that said anything negative about my wife being 30 years younger went immediately on my list of people with bad character. The problem is not the age difference between myself and my wife. The problem is with THEM. For saying anything. For thinking they have any right whatsoever to comment on other people's relationships. Inter-racial, gay, age differences - it's all the same idiocy and bad character to judge.

The most moronic thing about it is people actually placing themselves in the position of pretending to protect my wife from me. Hubris isn't strong enough a word for this. What they are proving is that they don't view my wife as fully human. As if she were a imbecile, incapable of making her own decisions in life. I can't think of anything more reprehensible than dismissing how my wife actually feels, and replacing that with their stupid framing.

Do we hear people saying, for same age couples, that she is old enough to be your sister or brother? The only purpose of saying such a thing is to maliciously inject an insinuation of incest. "Old enough to be your father" is smearing you with an incest comment, and "young enough to be his daughter" is a combination of sliming with incest and pedophilia. The person saying such a thing has bad character.

Meeting on the internet? Pffft. So what. Are we in the 18th century? Oh my GOD! I hear people BUY stuff on the internet too. Well, it certainly isn't legitimate to buy stuff online. lol.

i don't think they said those comments because they have bad character.. but you can't get mad at people to raise suspicions if the person you're with is twice to thrice your age... i have a friend whose his boss is 60+ and wife is 19

So what ?

People need to mind their own business and stop raising suspicion about age differences when others make that choice.

You posted this thread as someone who wanted to find reassurance and feed back for a co worker and then

after some members kindly gave you that reassurance about their own age gap happiness you comment in a consescending manner

like some disgruntled employee because he has a hot young wife.

Live and let live and let the CO's sort through it.

i was asked by my co worker... does it sound or look fishy if a young woman is dating an older man, like 20-30 yrs older, old enough to be their dad.. and what if they met online, does it sound legit

It can be. Judging a relationship by looking only at the age difference and how they met is shallow and ridiculous. Many couples meet online, and many couples have large age differences. There is much more to consider before "judging" the validity of the relationship....

Exactly! Many tend to forget that a K-1 VISA is quicker because it is only a VISA whereas the spousal visa route, CR-1/IR-1 is a visa plus the adjustment to LPR status. When you add K-1 time plus AOS/EAD/AP time, you get about the same total time (or sometimes longer) as CR-1. K-1 cost more in the long run too. The primary advantage of K-1 is entering into the US faster, but trust me, the AOS process isn't fun and games either. My wife is bouncing off the walls waiting for her EAD so she can get out of the house and go to work...
