I'm being optimistic and counting down! 5 weeks or 36 days left haha

Yeah our dates are almost identical)) We should both see something by January 21st... Timeline says 6-14 so maybe we will get lucky with an earlier than 90 day approval. I think most people are seeing a 70-80 day time period for approvals. Either way it is coming up! Hope the holidays do not slow it down for us((

Okay - wondering if anyone else is in the same boat and/or can advise?

Am a Canadian on OPT (valid until end of jan), and am married as of Oct 1st, filed for everything via my lawyers on Oct 3rd, and received the notices that my request was in process for I131/I485 on October 3rd. Did the medical exam and biometrics and all that jazz within a week.

I'm hoping to travel home for the holidays and tried my best to get my travel expedited as my grandmother is very ill (my local USCIS office has been useless and gave me 100 different answers to the same query & i sent an expedited request per their instructions to the Chicago lockbox address, which resulted in absolutely nothing).

I heard last week from that same USCIS office that my travel/work permit combo card was approved and should have been sent to me by this past Monday (Dec 15). It's now Dec 17 and I haven't received anything. When I look up my case online, I get the following re: my travel and work permit:

TRAVEL PERMIT:

On December 12, 2014, we approved your Form I-131, Application For USCIS Travel Document, Receipt Number MSCXXX. We will mail your approval notice. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your approval notice by January 11, 2015, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

WORK PERMIT (i thought they would come on the same card?):

On December 11, 2014, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number MSCXXX, and will mail it to the address you gave us. If you do not receive your card by January 10, 2015, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request that we send your new card to you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

I'm really really hoping to be able to travel home to see my family/friends over the holidays as well as my grandmother, and so am wondering when realistically I can expect the card? I can't really tell from the two notices above whether the card has actually been printed/sent?
Thanks for your help!! This has been the most frustrating process.. I hope you all get your cards as well & happy holidays!!

It has only been 3 business days including today since they sent you an electronic approval notice. I would not worry until next week if you still do not have it. I imagine it would be there anytime between today and Friday. It is the holiday season and mail moves slower too. Just hang tight and try not to stress))

Thank you for the information but we made the biggest mistake ever and didn't apply for the EAD. A border agent at the Chicago airport told my husband he wouldn't recommend it as the cases were moving so quickly. We were none the wiser and didn't apply for one. Can't wait for this all to be over.

Ah, okay thanks!! I did a bunch of research last night after I posted this and realized the timeline is usually about 7 days. My status has changed to 'my card has been sent to me' so I hope I get it in the next 3 days!! (Assuming USPS delivers Saturdays).

Thanks for your help! This is a great forum and I've definitely learned more looking at other people's experiences on here than talking to any USCIS rep. Those people are so useless..

If you would please create a timeline and enter in all your dates, it would help everyone tremendously. When you say filed October 3rd, does that mean you sent your files then or they received your files then? When was your biometrics appointment? Again create a timeline, it will be of great help!))))
