Sending 129F and supporting documents, am I ready?

I went to US dept of state website. Here is a link.

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/fees-visa-services.html

Under K visa, it shows $265. Is this wrong or is there some hidden fee that isn't accounted for?

How is the content, is the amount of content good? Do I have enough supporting documents?

I see how you could be confused.

I don't want to sound rude, but you need to take a breath and go over your application and make sure you have signed everything and filled out everything. Not knowing how much to send nor who you need to send the money to could result in a longer delay than you anticipated. I understand that you are excited, but these two, simple mistakes mean that you should take the weekend or tonight and go over everything, or ask questions here on VJ, before sending your petition.

You are correct but in a different way

The 129f is a petition.

It gives you permission to then apply for a visa.

The petition isn't an application for the visa itself so you are correct in saying that 265 is the visa fee because it is.

The other amount is the petition fee which is what you are sending now.

It's a common miscommunication :)

K1 petition fees should be $340, made out to the US Department of Homeland Security.

Please be sure to send them that amount. If not your petition could be delayed due to incorrect amount

and incorrect agency.

You should read the I-129F instruction. It tells you how much and to whom you should

make the check payable to.

www.uscis.gov/I-129f

Yours will be going to TCS, so you don't want to have additional unnecessary delay due

to incorrect payment.

  • Check made out to US Dept of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs for $265

I would recommend you take a day off before you send it. Then go back and reread everything specifically for Signatures. That one has slowed down several people I know.

Also, Don't send in originals to USCIS. Make certified copies (3 actually. 1 for USCIS, 1 for NVC, and one for your fiance to take to the embassy later). If there are any RFE's along the way, add those certified copies to the documentation that you have held back to that point (eg. if USCIS asks for something, add it to your NVC and Fiance's packets.)

If you are overseas it must go to the Chicago Drop Box. The only way around it is if you are doing a Consular Application which is rare. Normally those have to be approved first through the NVC and USCIS for a very specific reason.

Last but not least, don't get angry or frustrated. Come on here and ask for help if you run into a snag. There are lots of people on here with great experience that can assist you. (Not me so much, but I haven't gotten an RFE if that counts for anything).

Congrats on your pending nuptials.

Do I literally have to translate even the apartment receipt that's in Ukrainian? I included a link to a scanned image of the receipt from my Google Drive.

The instruction said "all documents must be translated to English" so the safe answer to that is yes...if you are translating the documents you might as well translate everything on it..will you get away with not translating some part of the document that you think is not important?..i can't tell you..but if I were you I'm going the safe route..doing things half way might cause unwanted delay to you petition..just my 2cents.

I didn't translate any of my European train or museum tickets for our travel to Europe, nor did I translate my 4-year chat log and emails with my fiance in Spanish. I wonder if that would cause a problem.
