Can i get a j1 visa while waiting for k1 visa to be processed?

my fiance (us citizen) is about to file the petition to start the k1 visa process. I have travelled to the US for the past 3 years on a j1 to work at a summer camp, and am wondering if i can get a j1 next year while the k1 is processing? Has anyone done this??

Check if your J-1 is subject to the 2-year home country physical presence requirement, and if so, see if you are eligible for a waiver. Otherwise, you are not permitted to receive a K-1 visa.

I had the j1 visa for my 2yrs in the states as an au pair, my passport states "2 year rule does not apply" check for that in your visa. I also emailed my consulate to be sure and they said I was alright.
