Welcome to the forum.

Have you looked at page 1 on the Form I-134 instructions for guidance on the necessary high points for employment letters?

When you get a chance, :time: It helps everyone that uses the forum.

Thank you, for both the replies and welcome!

K-1. "Supporting evidence" For I-134. Is it needed?

Also, sorry for asking so many questions lol, but what if we have 2 addresses, well, he (the petitioner) is currently on a lease that his name is on, but in December we will be moving into another apartment (which we already have 100% confirmed). Can we use the new address or should we use the one our name is on the lease? We would eventually need to get an address change. We already have access to the new apartment now, so receiving mail wouldn't be an issue.

Can you link me to the instructions for the I-134 specifically for filing K-1. TY

Sure, read on:

Check out the VJ K1 Guide:

http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

Another good read from the DOS about the K1 visa process:

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/types/family/fiance-k-1.html

Check out the requirements of the two interviewing US consulates in Canada:

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?letter=C

If that is not specific enough for you, don't submit a completed I-134 for the visa interview, and see how the visa application approval process transpires at the interviewing US consulate. Please report back the results.

Good luck on your visa journey.

Will you be going through Montreal or Vancouver consulate? The I-134 and supporting documents won't be needed until the interview stage of the k1 process and the consulate will send you more information about what they require.

I went through Vancouver and only brought an employer letter and pay stubs from my fiance - Montreal might be a bit different. Regardless, it is current employment/salary that is important- my fiance (well husband now) was unemployed for two years before we submitted our application and it made no difference. When he got a full time job we started our process.

You do not add in the I-134 or financial information with the I-129F petition. You mentioned cover letter, so I assume you are talking about filing the petition. What is listed in the I-129F instructions and on the VJ are the only requirements for the petition > http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

I-134 and supporting documentation are needed when you actually apply for and have your K-1 visa interview.

I was sort of in the same boat. I told my fiance that it was too risky to apply for the visa while unemployed. It is better to have a job and put that on the initial G-325 document.

To file I-129F Petition for Alien Fiance it is NOT required. When the interview stage comes up your petitioner will need to prove income; the letter from employer is just one of the several ways you can prove this. If you can supply 2013 tax returns and/or paystubs the letter from employer is not needed. However since your petitioner just started this job I would RECOMMEND including Letter from Employer however it is NOT REQUIRED. There are many employers out there that may not want to supply such a letter. Your petitioner can also use his/her job offer letter or job contract document to prove income is sufficient.
