Hi,

I am scheduled for the K-1 interview this coming October. Although we have completed our documents and ready for the interview, I can't help but get nervous. I have read some sites about the reasons of being denied of the visa. One of which was:

7. Couple hasn’t spent enough time together in person

Though me and my fiance are engaged for 6 months and only met once, I am not sure if we will fall under this item. We had been talking everyday, and even if I am at work, I still spend time talking to him. Would that be sufficient? We have only spent a week together here in the Philippines. Are there any people out there who has the same experience? :) or maybe I am just too pessimistic and too nervous. Thanks and hoping for your replies.

I spent only 2 weeks with my wife last November, and I went back to Philippines in July for her interview. We had no issues at all. You will be fine as well, just go into the interview with confidence and smile.

My fiancé and I have only spent 18 days together in person. I think there are a lot of couples in your position, that have had limited time in actual physical presence of each other. Try not to worry, I think as long as you can show you communicate regularly you'll be fine.

Personally, I think long distance relationships like the ones here on VJ are stronger and have better coominicate than others. And after all isn't that why we're here...so eventually we can be together forever! Best of luck to you!

I only spent a little over two weeks with my fiance (now husband). Only met once. Next time I saw him was when I flew to USA to marry him. This isn't really uncommon. Be confident about your relationship during the interview. All the questions during the interview are things YOU ALREADY KNOW. It's like taking an exam while already having the answer key!

If you know in your heart that you genuinely want to be with your fiance, what is there to be scared about? :) This is the last hurdle and you get to be with him forever. Be positively excited instead.

We only spent 10 days together and were approved.......and.....had only known each other for 3 months prior.

It always depends on the quality of the relationship and the content of the evidence being able to show the same.

My fiancee just went through the interview process, we got engaged after knowing each other for two weeks, but during that time we told each other everything about our pass, present and what we want in the future.

Petioners please tell your fiancee everything about your past and i mean everything. My past was not bad at all ( but there was a time in 1999 when i got arrested for something i did not do. I went to court they arrested the actual guy who did the crime and my case was dismissed.

even though the case was dismissed and it happen almost 15 years ago, I still told my fiancee about it and i am so glad I did, you know why? Because that was the first and only question the filipino CO asked my fiancee. Do you know everything about your petitioner? My fiancee said yes. The filipino CO asked her like what do you know about him.

She told him about my arrest in 1999 and how it was a mistake and that it was dismissed. My fiancee said that the filipino CO was shocked and speechless. He thought no way i woukd have told her about that, it was so long ago, but that was that he smiled at her and told her we have a srrong relationship.

The American CO did not ask for any evidence at all, which is a shame because my fiancee was arm to the teeth with 30 pounds of evidence of all the skyping, the yahooing, and everything you can imagine l lol!!

He asked her 3 questions, her name, my name and why does she love me?

My fiancee replied, because since the first day she met me, i have always been honest and upfront with her about me.

the American CO smiled and said everything looks great, just wait for your visa.

i am telling this because it does not matter how long you have been together with your fiancée what matters is how well do you know each other. Communicate often and please tell the beneficiary everything about you, the good and the bad it will make your fiancee interview experience so much easier.

In short, its not quantity, but quality of a relationship. You will do well. they don't care how long you have been together, but in that time you have been together, how well and strong is your relationship. Good luck to all on this journey!!!!

No that is not a reason for denial. Insufficient evidence of an genuine and ongoing relationship is a reason. Have a sampling of chat logs, emails and such over the time you have been separated, know your fiance well and all should be fine.

MOST couples that do the K-1 visa in Manila only met once and did not see each other again before the interview.... none had issues.
