I am confused about the I-129f form validity.

I have read that this form is valid for 4 months. What does this mean exactly? Four months from the date I send it in and its received? Four months from the date that my fiance is notified by her embassy? Or something else?

My fiance is a little stressed because it will be very difficult for her to get some of the documents that she needs, so she is going to have to take time off from work to travel in order to get some things. So it would be really helpful for her to know how long she has to do this, and what time period it might fall in, so she can try to schedule things in advance.

As I understand it, the processing time from when I submit my I-129f petition until everything gets through her embassy is typically about 5 months?

Then they tell her what documents she needs , so she collects all of this stuff, and then contacts them to schedule the interview. I'm mainly wondering how long she will have during this step.

From what I have seen, the "appointment wait time" for her embassy (Tokyo) is only a couple of days. Does this mean that when she contacts them to make an appointment, the appointment can be set for just a few days in the future?

And then, from the date of her medical examination (which will be the same as the interview date), she will have 6 months to enter the usa. Correct?

Welcome to the forum.

You ask some very good and often asked questions. Check out the DOS Nonimmigrant Visa for (K-1) Fiance(e) FAQs for many of the answers to your questions: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/types/family/fiance-k-1.html

Other good sources of information can be found in the Guides, accessible at the top of the forum page. Check out the K1 visa Guide and K1 Vise Flowchart: http://www.visajourney.com/content/guides

Good luck on your immigration journey.

I do not know how long it takes to schedule an interview there. You may want to check out the reviews section to see if anyone has said how long it is, or check out timelines for others that went through Japan. Here are the instruction for Japan > http://www.ustraveldocs.com/jp/jp-niv-typek.asp

An approved I-129F petition is valid for 4 months. You are supposed to have the interview scheduled within those 4 months. However, the expiration of an I-129F can be easily extended if you need more time. Just contact your consulate to explain your situation and ask that it be extended.

It means the I129F approval is valid for Four months from the date of approval of your petition that is the date of NOA2 to the date of Interview at the Consulate in your country. It is not counted from the NOA1 date like you thought but from the NOA2 date. You do not need to worry, your fiancee will have enough time for all the documentation.

Once your interview is approved and a visa is issued, your visa is valid for travel for six months.
