SSN "up to 4 weeks"

I went to the ssn office last monday with my EAD and Passaport, everything went smooth, but I received a "receipt" saiyng that could be up to 4 weeks to they verifie me. I need the ssn to do my drivers license here in TX. Anybody had received the same "receipt"?

Same thing happened to me here in Hawaii. I think my SSc arrived after 3 weeks.

I went last Thursday, the 28th as well, and I got the same letter. My process went perfect, like 10 minutes and a few questions. But I was told that they need to check the immigration status etc, and it can take 1, 2 o 4 weeks.

If you actually received a receipt that the application was accepted, you should be able to go in and get a print out of the actual number for you to use. I my entire life I have only shown my card to two people. The rest of the time I just rattle it off the number, but that was back in the "good old days". If you have the time just go in and see if you can get the number.

Hi when i went to the phoenix ssa on monday,i was given the same "letter" saying up to 4 weeks blah blah.I also saw a sign saying effective August 1st,they no longer give a print out for security purposes.That was what we were planning to do but then i saw the sign lol.(frustrating,sigh)
