Hello there

i have been using Belfast for all of my US visa requirements in the past as it is quick and a very laid back atmosphere. I have met the person who i will be spending the rest of my life with and we have sent our package to the Dallas lockbox to have our K1 visa prossessed. However, i had put the US consulate i wish to use as Blefast and it wasnt till today trying to get ahead with my paperword i realized that Belfast does not Process K1 interviews only London deals with these. So my question overall is will the Dallas Lockbox mail the package back to my fiance or will they realize that i have made a mistake and send it to london since this the only K1 interviewing location in the UK?

Thank you for your help

Yup Belfast is is a consulate and they process only certain non immigrant visa types and deliver US citizen services.

Has you fiancee received a NOA yet?

Even if you specified Belfast, they know where K1 visas are processed in the UK and most likely send it to London.

Enjoy your two trips to London. One for your medical and one for your interview. Been there done that.

Thank you, goodnight and may your gods go with you",

Thank you 2ndmessia, we only sent it away 2 weeks ago so we will be waiting for that info to come through! So you dont think i have too much to worry about resending the information.

While i am on here i feel i should ask the question most ask. What sort of time frame am i looking at for the k1 i was a student for 7 years i have a social security number in the states too. Will this speed my case up any?

Thanks for your response

That will not speed up your case. Nor will a lawyer. The best way to speed up your case is make no mistakes where they have to ask for more information, and be prepared for the next step before you get there. Learn what happens next and what documents you will need. Make a timeline and it will predict petition approval aka NOA2. That's when you will move on to the NVC, then London.

Thank you Nich-nick, i would just like the process to be quicker than some of the stories i have see of one year. is the information paticularly hard to obtain that i should start to try to get right away?

You can find processing times here on VJ for I129F petitions. It was running about 6 months for the petition to be approved then about another 4 months to complete your side of things. This involves the petition going through the NVC and onto the London Embassy. The Embassy contacting you to arrange and complete a medical. Other online processes and interview.

The actual fine details of these procedures have changed since I did it, but others should be able to tell you how it works today.

Hey, I'm also from Belfast. We filed our petition Jan 31st, got our first Noa on Feb 5th, we got an RFE 21st August. We're waiting for the RFE in the mail and hoping a quick turn around and maybe be there by December.

It's hard to give you a time frame but right now we're approaching 7 months, preparing for about 9 months total, God willing.

You can start gathering stuff life proof of relationship and getting your vaccinations etc but things like the police check have expiry dates so be careful.

Helpful hint, distract yourself with other things that the k1. It can be a long wait and you'll melt your brain with out distraction.

I'm also going to London for Medical and interview.

If there's anything I can help with dont hesitate contact me

Best of luck

My fiance is from Northern Ireland as well.

A friend of mine's husband was able to do his medical for a spousal visa in Edinborough and then they had their interview at the London embassy, but this was a few years back.

Does anyone know if it's possible to do the medical in Belfast does it need to be in London?

I agree with the previous poster, it's a pain that everyone has to go to London (especially for you NI filers) but use the opportunity to do some sightseeing so you at least get something out of the trip.

Not going to happen. Everything through London.....

There was a guy on here from Northern Ireland who managed to get his application sent to Dublin BUT it turned into a real snafu. It was returned the NVC I think then sent to London. A real waste of time and effort.

Ugh of course. Nothing in this process can ever be easy.

That's okay at this point it feels like we're never going to get to that phase anyway and will be waiting for a NOA2 for the rest of our lives...

As much as I hate the expression, "it is what it is". It will happen when it happens and not a minute sooner. There's nothing you can do to quicken the process so try to accept the wait and attempt to make it as good as it can be. You dont wanna look back in 6 months time and think "that was the most miserable period". For the sake of keeping your sanity, exercise a little self care and less defeatist attitude. Lol just speaking from my experience. My advice may be dusting of past experience and offering it for more than it's worth so feel free to take it or leave it lol but before I squeeze in any more nauseating, compensatory cliche...if life gives you lemons...
