How long before a visit?

I met a filipina online. We were friends first and have been talking on skype and viber for 2-4 hours a day. How long should I wait before I go to visit her? We have been an "item" for about 1 and 1/2 months and know each other for about 2 and 1/2 months. I have been to the phils in 2013 and previously dated a pinay here in the states before for 3 years. How long has everyone on this forum chatted with their partner before visiting?

That's completely your call....I chatted with my wife before we met maybe only two weeks but I was planning to go to the PI anyway for a vacation. I did not plan to marry her nor did I think I would fall in love. I did not marry her right away either...I made sure it was what we both wanted. Currently I chat with my wife every day and we Skype as well...but we have done this for almost two years now and we have a child. And when I say everyday...I mean EVERYDAY! For the last two years...with zero days off...even when she is sick..and I am sick..or our child is sick or grumpy...lol.....we are always there for each other.

Fiancé took more than 2 years before he visited me. So we started first as being friends online and it grows from there. I would say, we were just being cautious and we just want to make sure with the way we feel. and now, I am just waiting for my interview and I will be with him in few months.

Well, each one of us has different story and besides, love works in mysterious ways.

About 2 years before I visited my fiancee in the Phils. Actually considered doing it sooner after about a year and a half. But work, plane ticket prices and other commitments pushed it back.

There is no set time or anything! When I met my then fiancée, we knew each other for a couple of months and I went to the PI to meet her ! This is the way I felt about it.. The worst thing that could happen was a vacation in the PI or the best thing that could happen was to meet my future wife! As of June 30th 2007 we have been happily married! My wife is a US Citizen now and though a marriage is never perfect , we both would do the same thing over again! Go with your heart buddy and don't pay attention to the critics!

In my case, it took my husband a little over a year before he could visit me because the military was iffy about letting him travel to my country. Visit her as soon as possible, and visit her as often if you can. You can really never tell if the person you fell in love with online is the same until you meet them face to face. Don't forget to take photos and keep evidences when you meet up! :)

11 months, but it was a combination of a demanding job and serious illness that held me back. Had nothing to do with wanting to get to know her better first or stragtegic visa planning.

When your heart tells you that you are ready, go.

I went to see my fiancee about 5 months after meeting her online. Proposed while I was there. I will be in Manila for her K1 interview in Sept.

I was going to visit with several friends I had met online when I made the trip here. Didn't want to make any commitments without meeting in person(yes they all knew there was a plan and they were not the only one I was talking with), after all, how could you possibly fall in love online, or on the phone. Just not possible, right?

HA.

Started talking to one on the phone almost every day, talked to others too, but this one was just so different. Time passed, and we got closer, but I was still not going to make comittments. Gotta meet first.

Then I was driving around at work thinking about our conversations, and what to talk about that day, and it occurred that I had been thinking about this girl all day. Huh, thought to myself,"its almost like I love this girl", and my heart stopped. No kidding. So I says to myself," I love her", stopped again. #######, there goes the plan.

So after a month and a half or so of talking on the phone, we were in love. Got engaged soon after, and kept talking on the phone and I sent her a ring(hindsight, and advice, don't, the taxes are killer, 42%). Got all my vacation time picked for June, and flew over for a month.

Spent the month together, and put the k-1 packet together. Sent it off as soon as I got home. Went back to work, couldn't handle it, stress of being away from my love, plus the "wonderful" people I dealt with in the public, lost my job. Oh well, took my savings and flew back to the Philippines after 2 weeks. Got married, with the intention of staying here. That is not working out as well as we hoped. Did DCF, flying back together on Sept. 9th.

That's our story. Every one is different, as will yours be. Follow your heart, and do what's best for you and yours.

Best wishes.

PS, it is possible to connect with and fall in love with someone you've never met. I was the ultimate skeptic on that, but look at what happened. :) we didn't even Skype till after we were engaged. Lots of phone time though. Vonage kept sending me emails about acceptable use violations. They hated me.

Check with your heart first, then double check with your head.

And when you get two (unquestionable) thumbs up, then sleep on it for a week,

and if thumbs are still up, then it's the right time. :D

That's what I did anyway... :jest:
