Would someone here be willing to share their thoughts on the Affadavit of Support. Not sure how much info I need.

Do I need letters from my bank or just my 06 W2. I don't like the thought of handing over the info for every account I have.

I also don't feel like digging up my tax returns for the last 3 years. What is the simplest way to do this affadavit. Thanks.

The best route to take is to provide all the required documents that the instructions for the I-134 ask for (from the USCIS website). Otherwise, you take the chance of not getting your approval, until you do provide the required documents.

I took a highlighter and marked off all the documents as I obtained them. I did not provide any more or any less than they requested, just to be on the safe side.

You only need to provide the information you want to have considered to establish your case. Most likely the W-2 standing alone will not be sufficient and will require the 1040 as well. As to one, two or three years will depend on how strong 2006 was and what the consulate likes to see. If your income is weak then you will need to support it further with other information on assets.

YMMV

goontar,

If you are going to show assets, such as bank accounts, then you need something from the bank such as a letter or statements from the bank to document the assets.

If you are going to show income then you need something such as a recent letter from the employer or recent pay statements to document current income.

The consulate in Bangkok asks for the 1 most recent income tax return. You can provide either a photocopy of the complete return (complete means everything that was a part of the return) or a tax transcript from the IRS.
