The more I plan, the more he protests. Not in a "I don't want to get married" kind of way. But a "we have bigger fish to fry" way and that hurts because it is the big fish to me. It's really important to me. He won't help pay for it until we're approved. But we can't even talk about it or plan so I know how much we need. I am a planner. I plan everything. He doesn't. He would rather leave everything to chance. It just makes me not want to do anything because he doesn't care at this point because we aren't approved.

I know. I see his views because of the uncertainty of when but, you have to plan like today is the day you know? My pumpkin does not care one way or the other...he just wants me lol.

When it comes down to it, of course all I want is to be with him. I love him very much. But I am also a girl. I have always dreamed of what my wedding would be like. And to be told I can't talk about it or plan it now that I'm actually getting married..it feels like being denied that. So I would rather just not have to worry about one in the end. My birthday is Wednesday. I would really like to get our NOA2. I leave for a cruise in 2 weeks for a weeklong Caribbean cruise. I just need a good vacation & a reboot. This is so stressful.

Called the wedding off, yes. But we'll still go to the JP. I just can't handle the stress of having to plan it but not having any support because it's "too soon" and we should "handle our problems in order" meaning deal with the petition being approved & getting approved at the interview. I've cried more during this process than I have in my whole life.

I don't know your situation, but I have read for the AOS after the marriage it is a bit easier if you at least have some family or friends there at the wedding as opposed to only a JP. I had thought about marrying her the week my fiance came at a JP. Here in Louisiana I can marry 3 days after getting the marriage license. But after reading a bit, it seems that it is more believable if you have a least a tiny wedding with some family and friends.

Again, I don't know your situation, but I have faith that once the time is near, perhaps you could have a small romantic something wedding perhaps. Sometimes being spontaneous is fun, a small adventure. But I understand your frustration, the wedding is so important to many or most people.

My fiance and I have tossed around a million ideas, from a large family wedding, to just eloping to Las Vegas at one of the drive in chapels. This whole process is a little unpredictable. One long slow painful day at a time. Just keeping our eyes set on the goal of being together forever in the end.

Just wanted to toss out that I remember reading somewhere to at least have some good pictures with family and friends there for evidence for the AOS.

Also planning for the wedding should be fun. I hope your fiance can be more supportive. I won't judge him though, as I'm far from perfect myself.

We aren't having a wedding. After the costs of this whole process I am not putting us into any more debt. My parents will be there. They'll take photos. But this whole thing is so expensive. I did, however book our honeymoon. I expect him to be here by Christmas, so mid January I got a hotel suite at the borgata in Atlantic city. And if something happens where he isn't here, it's refundable. I'm sure there won't be any more issues.

But honestly, I don't see why you need a wedding...*shrug* maybe a high risk country? I'm simple though. I'd rather spend that money on a honeymoon, a new couch & a pair of nice tvs for our video games:)

Good luck to everyone tonight!

I am the petitioner.

I just got my RFE in the mail (sent 9/18 for a NOA1 4/17 application). It requests:

1) my birth certificate. (I included this already - it was an original freshly-issued)

2) my divorce decree from my previous marriage (I included this already - it was an original freshly-issued)

3) my fiance's divorce decree (we checked that his marriage status was "single" because he was NEVER married before)

So, frustrated, I called customer service to say that all these were in the original file and I HAVE PROOF. The level 1 agent just said "sometimes things get lost. Send them again fast or go see your local USCIS office and show them proof that you turned them in". I asked to speak to a level 2 agent and she said "if I transfer you it will drop your call because they are flooded and not accepting any additional calls today. Try them in the morning."

WTH, government?! I could scream. I'm delayed by weeks or more because they screwed up. This sucks.
