I am on uscis page, I suggest USCIS add how many cases ahead of you in your local office, and how many cases they will finish per week. how many days they will process your case fuction for the case status checking website in uscis. I am computer programmer, i think it is easy to add this function. then we don't need to guess anything any more.

Hopefully, they'll take it into consideration, but I doubt it. I sent them an email a long time ago because there is a mistake on the instructions of the I-130 regarding derivative relatives and they haven't cared to fix it. The Dept of State website does actually read people's comments because they still had on their website that same sex couples weren't considered spouses about a month after DOMA was struck down and they fix it a couple of days after I sent them an email. So your suggestion is a good one, hopefully they will consider it.

This does not constitute legal advice.

USCIS has stated their goal is to complete most N-400 cases in 5 months.

if it's taking more than that, you know you have to take some action(like calling them, making an INFOPASS etc.)

I understand being more transparent helps but remember USCIS runs based on the *fees* they collect and if the new tracking is going to take up more resources then they have to pay for it by raising the *fees* or prioritizing this over other tasks....

this is not an easy task to do because uscis process applications in bulk. for example, each group of the petitions will be in a box, then they will put these boxes in a shelf. officers will pick a box from the shelf, and process them.it's not like will process one by one by order.

the processing method is depending on the type of the application. but, imagine trying to automate the process that was started more than 100 years ago, it's not aneasy task. They still use some mainframes to process some applications. read this article http://www.visajourney.com/content/adjudicator-q-and-a

since case status can be checked online, that indicates that there Is a record of all cases online. All they need to do is add date function that compute or arrange cases either as they get input in the computer or whenever any case is updated. This function will track how many cases that are professing before yours.
