Hi everyone... I apologize in advance if this has been covered previously.

I've just returned from Brazil, where I married my wife!! :) So I;m now in the process of preparing our documents to file for her visa. However, I;'m a bit confused regarding the different fees and exactly when they're supposed to be submitted. I've also found what seems to be out of date info regarding paying the fees via check or money order, as it appears the fees can be paid online now... is that correct?

I'm referencing this link for fees: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/fees-visa-services.html#permanent

And this appears to be an online payment portal: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/fees/online-payment-.html

Long story short, which fees are paid and when?

- Is the $420 I-30 fee paid when the packet is mailed? Sent with the packet?

- What about the $230 Visa fee? Is that sent at the same time?

- Are there any additional fees to be paid aside form the cost of fingerprinting, medical exam, travel to the consulate, etc.?

I think I've managed to wrap my head around most of the other required documents... but these fees are really throwing me for a loop.

Thanks in advance for your help!

You pay the $420 with the application (uscis). The 230 comes later after your file is sent to the nvc for visa processing. Go to the guide section of this website and it will explain everything and guide you literally step by step on your application.
