Hi I'm Kim from Philippines and I am applying for the Tourist Visa. I am going to my Aunt in New Jersey. They invite me to go there, have a vacation. I just wanted to know how can I get approval or to get the Tourist Visa. Cause I was reading all the topic here about the Tourist Visa on how to get it. What are the possible questions to ask. CO wants to know the tie to your country stuff like that. And it seems the reason like "gonna go back to school or i have a job etc" is not enough reason for the CO...what should I answer to the CO... Would it be ok if my answer is like this.. Well its really my reason though... "That I am going to US because my Aunt invited me to come/visit. Its my chance to finally come to US see some nice places there like what my Aunt tellin me. Really just for visit. About going back to my place here in Philippines, ofcourse I'll come back. I dont want to be a Ellegal Alien there in US. And I dont plan to live there because my life is in the Philippines. All i want is to my dreams come thru. See the US. But still its in your hand if u let me or not its ok to me. Its just for me its my only chance to come in US because of my Aunt. Maybe if my aunt is not in US i wouldnt have this chance." Would that answer ok??

That answer does not address the question. Your reasons for visiting the US are irrelevant. Saying you'd never want to become illegal is one they have heard a thousand times. Focus why you need to go back, focus on your job (have a letter from your job with an expected return date), focus on where you live (do you have a house? live with parents? Care for your parents?)

Sadly, they don't care about your hopes and dreams. They care why you must return

good luck

again, a story that has been told thousands of times, but rarely made a difference....people have left behind spouses, children, cars, water buffalos, you name it, they have left it, all to seek out a new life in the US....your reasons for going to the US do not matter.....you must convince the CO that you will return, without a doubt....and since far too many of your countrymen from the PI have 'forgotten' to do just that (or have indeed severed their 'relationship' with their BF or GF or fiancé, or parents, or siblings, your task will be even more difficult....there is no easy answer, there is no magic answer....and if the CO does not believe you, it won't matter what you say....your demographic (from what it sounds like), a young, single Filipina, is the highest risk of overstay....way too many Filipinas have used their excuse of a visit to a long lost aunt instead as a means to go husband shopping in the US.... a fact that even the newest CO is aware of.

You seem to be looking for an answer -- any answer -- that will get you a visa. The only valid advice anyone here can give is you that you must answer truthfully. We cannot supply the answer on what ties you have that will require you to return home-- only you know what they are. If they are not sufficient, and the visa is denied, according to your earlier post, you are fine with that. So, apply, answer truthfully and see what happens. Don't keep searching for the "right" answer -- there is none.

No one can find a good reason how the consular officer will decide to approve your visa. I got denied in 2010. I brought everything I could. I told the CO any possibility reason that might be give me a chance. My then- boyfriend ( my now husband) is in the military, I had a good job, and both of us won't jeopardize our careers just get a tourist visa, for Heaven's sake. But you don't know how the turns out if you don't try. So, just apply and see if they will approved your visa. Come back here whatever the turns out would be and posted for us. Good luck!

My advice to help you would be to instead visit other countries, preferably well developed ones like Singapore first to show you have a history of returning home and help build a better case. Then try for a tourist visa to the USA.

You can see Singapore, Hong Kong or Korea... No need to travel that far.

I think these Consuls just wants a brief answer. When my parents were asked the purpose of their visit they just said we are visiting our daughter. thats it no beating around the bush. i think when you talk and explain too much you open a can of worms and would make them even more suspicious even if you have true intentions or being truthful. No one really knows the answer to how someone gets approved.
