***** Moving form INtroductions to Tourist Visa for more answers *****

You need to show ties to your home, reasons you will return until your immigrant visa is ready. This will be difficult, as you clearly have immigrant intent, but not impossible. For example having a good job, leaving your kids at home, owning a business or property, that sort of thing.

Actually, saying she will leave the kids home will lead to a prompt denial.....why? Because if she camps out with her B2 visa waiting for the IV petition, when it does arrive, she can easily petition the children to join her...in fact, if an applicant points to relatives they will offer to leave behind as some sort of guarantee will see that strategy backfire instantly.

It can be cold in Colorado in November, I would have thought a trip home for her would be nice.

If you want to visit the US then apply for a visa.

Unfortunately your mother can't help you get a tourist visa. You will need to get one on your own merit, which means you will need to show strong ties with your home country and the ability to pay for your own ticket and expenses while you're here. Her upcoming birthday does give your request validity, but in the end you will be granted a visa based on those factors.

Good luck!!
