Hi everyone!

I'm new here, but I've been lurking these forums for some time, and they have been quite helpful when preparing my AOS package back in May. I am currently waiting, have no questions, but I made the account to try and answer someone's question in another thread. I'm a bit shy, so you won't hear much from me, unless I think I can be of help to someone else.

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I did so, filled it to the most recent status. I just had my biometrics yesterday and this morning I woke up to a nice little RFE in the mail :D

It's not a scary one, we just didn't adequately prove my husband's current income. I thought we proved his income with the tax return and his original offer letter from his employer, but what we apparently DIDN'T prove is that this income is current, i.e. we didn't become destitute between February and now. I sent him running to his HR department, should be sending the response in on Saturday.

Whoah! Just respond to the RFE timely and make sure to include everything they ask for. If they request something related to income, best to submit the IRS tax trancript which you can download online: http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript

Sometimes when people submit 1040 +W2 (or 1099), a missing page or 1040 schedule can cause a lot of troubles. Of course, include paystubs at least for the last 3 months or anything else that can prove a continuous income. All the best!

They asked for 6 months of paystubs and/or a letter from the employer. We will send them both of these, now it's all a matter of how fast the HR department gets that letter done. Oh, the joys of corporate life, everything takes longer than you'd expect, and you can't just ask someone for a slip of paper, you have to put in a formal request.

Thanks a lot for the tax transcript information, it looks really handy! We just sent a copy of the 1040 we filed, along with copies of our W-2s. They don't seem to be complaining about the tax return stuff...

Ah, and you did not overlook my timeline, I just put it together today after I read your post :)

Ahh sounds great! Maybe better if there's something in his employment cert that says he's holding a permanent position or something to that effect.

Hope everything goes smooth after this RFE. All the best to you guys!
