My wife and children flew PAL from MNL to LAX and said the flight left on time, the employees were great and the food was good. Arrived in LAX on time. This year PAL has bought new equipment so your experience maybe different.

PAL is horrendous. They are cheap but the cheapness comes at a cost: Almost always late, inedible food, dirty old planes. If you have the money, get a different airline.

Candy flew PAL once. ONCE. Get my drift? I wouldn't fly PAL for free

I flew to Philippines on Asiana Airlines and they were fabulous, but you have to go through Seoul South Korea layover. Their service was great though. I would recommend them.

Asiana Airlines was good. But Delta Airlines won for food service. They kept bringing food almost all the time. The bad side, their flight attendants were not nice though. My husband (then-fiancé) came to Jakarta for my interview with Singapore Airlines and Virgin Atlantic. Those airlines had a good service including food (Singapore Airlines has Givenchy to design their amenities kit and Virgin with their amenities kit with red, my favorite color, lol).

One thing that I was disappointed that when I flew to the US with my husband, the Ground Manager of Asiana told ticketing staff separated our seats because we brought 2 cats. Neither Delta nor Silver Airways did to us. I guess, it is their rules if passengers intend to bring their pets.

I would recommend Delta if you don't mind spending a little bit more money. I tried it when I went to the US twice and no problems at all. Their international flight attendants were kind and polite, always a smile on their face when I wanted something. Slightly different with the local flight attendants with Delta in the US, instead of getting a response of "Can I help you?" I got a "What do you want?" but that's just my own experience and to be honest, it didn't bother me - just a slight observation, that's all.

About being on time, Delta was not late on my flight schedule. I prefer a one airline flight if I make connecting flights. So my trip before was Manila - Detroit - Chicago, all Delta flights and no problems at all.

This coming trip to the US, my fiancé booked it with Expedia. And we are both flying with multiple carriers which are Philippine Airlines and Air Canada - only because we are connecting to Vancouver to get to Chicago. I don't know yet with these two airlines but I've flown with PAL locally and they are always late. Air Canada, I'll give my review after I've flown.

I had been flying JAL 777 out of Boston, Mass. to Narita, Japan, then a JAL hopper to MNL, lastly Cebu Air to Mindanao. I checked Emerati Air and found they fly direct MNL to the US east coast in 13+ hours, my memory serves me. Join their frequent flier club, I see some great deals to and from Asia...Rob

I flew with united and ana for my first trip, both ways. Ana was good both ways, united was OK on the flight to Japan, but the flight home was not as good. Maybe I was just away from Americans too long.

I came back on asaina. Were hoping to fly home together on asaina. I liked their service, and the wife wants to see south Korea. Just my opinion.

If you are referring to Emirates, they don't fly direct from MNL to the east coast. You have to stopover in Dubai. I don't know of any MNL direct flight to the US east coast. The closest direct you can get from MNL to the east coast is MNL-Toronto flown by the new PAL 777's. One direction is direct (don't remember if it's inbound/outbound) and the other direction makes a stop in Vancouver.

FWIW, the boston-narita flights are now using 787's. Fancy new planes, higher cabin humidity levels supposedly helps a lot with jet lag.

I flew Air China. Loved it. A friend flies Korean from Manila to Vegas via Seoul. He raves about it and they fly (if I remember right) 777-300's. After reports from two friends who flew PAL to the US, it's a no-go.

PAL if you're flying to LAX or SFO, mainly because they fly non-stop on the US-bound leg. Also, it's nice to eat semi-Filipino food and shoot the with fellow pinoys to pass the endless amount of time. If you run into one of those on-demand dates, ANA usually has good prices and superior service.

From Tri-State, pick your poison. I normally fly Delta because they have service from EWR, but if I have to take off from JFK, I'll fly Korean if I'm going to MNL. If I want to land at CRK and not mind the extra travel time and cost, Asiana is the only way to go. Debarking at CRK is so much easier and more convenient.

PAL = Plane Always Late. 2 hour delay MNL to SFO when I flew back with my then fiancee. I flew Asiana twice before and I enjoyed the service, but I was also going to CRK. I think you will find most of the major airlines that you can find for a decent price will fill your needs, but I would avoid PAL.

It will be my first time to travel to US. What airline would u recommend. Has anyone tried Eva Air? :) Thanks

Eva Air is good. I live in New Jersey and have been using them for quite some time (6 years). Plus flights are some what cheap. My husband used Eva Air when he came here in September 2013. We paid $700+ for his one way ticket which included the travel tax so all he had to pay for at the airport was the terminal fee. I would definitely recommend taking Eva Air. :) Plus they always arrive on time and have never been delayed.
