Hi,

Just need some advice, I filed my I-485 last march 27, but did not include EAD, now I'm planning to get a job, so I'm thinking should I submit EAD or just wait for the gc to arrive? Status online still says "acceptance".

Thanks in advance.

K.

Sorry, I've also completed my biometrics last April 28. Thanks!

you can submit a EAD along with I believe a copy of the NOA-1 for the I-485 to avoid the fees as will still be part of AOS package, consider applying for the I-131 advance parole also for travel while waiting for green card.A second biometrics will now be required for the EAD.

Steve is correct. I would file the I-765 along with the I-131 and you must include a copy of the NOA-1 for the I-485 or else they will reject your files and state you need to pay for the 2 forms.

Hi,

Thanks for all your responses. I'm well aware of the whole EAD process, however my concern is about the timeline. Given that the timeframe of the EAD request is 60-90 days, if I submit it say today, that's going to be 60-90 days of waiting, and at the time of EAD issuance is already the 5th or 6th month of my I-485 request. You think it's going to take more time if I just wait for my GC instead? I don't have any idea how long the GC will be issued. You think it's going to take more than 6months?

Thanks!

There's no way to know how long your I-485 will take to process. It might be done by the summer or you might still be waiting at Christmas. It's a good idea to apply for an EAD and AP even if you don't have plans to use either, as plans can change.

EADs and AP are processed separately from the I-485, so applying for either will neither help nor hinder the overall process.

Hi Hypnos,

Thanks for replying, and this makes sense to me. I'd probably do what you suggest. Appreciate it. :)
