Since May 20, the day of Candy's successful interview, there has been no motion whatsoever on the CEAC tracking system. On May 20, it said Case Opened 5/20/2014 and Last Update 5/20/2014.

Since then, there has been no motion whatsoever. It simply has not budged one millimeter. And 5 business days have passed (I accounted for the holiday).

Is this normal, or is there some problem here?

Was wondering the same thing Joila's interview was the day after Candy's and their has been no movement since the interview.

While I am sure it does not help you, that fact makes me feel better. I was doing OK until I read that someone with a K-1 on 5/19 got ISSUED in 3 days. That kind of made me freak out.

I guess we all have to wait.

Let's keep each other informed.

Just wondering if it could go from READY to AP back to READY in the same day. I can't monitor that because I am sleeping during the Manila business day (I am in New York). I get one check in their morning and one more in their evening.

Look, Mr. AI422, I'd love to explain everything to you, but the Captain wants more time with your spectrographic analysis so a few more days of patience and we should have it completed.

Relax.... do what you tell others. :secret:

I will let you know if I see any updates. I would think even if it went from AP back to ready in one day the dates would still change. Ours has not been touched since the interview.

Like a good Starfleet officer, I like to make sense of things and understand why things work as they should. I guess USEM would be a bit much for Starfleet to handle. Mr. Spock would call them illogical, the Klingons would say they are without honor, and Captain Kirk and Scotty would just break out the bottle and do some shots.

I know USEM is buried in work, and the fact that it slows things down makes sense. But issuing a K-1 that interviewed on May 19 in 3 days and leaving a May 20 hanging for 5 days and a May 21 hanging for 4 days with no word is, as Mr. Spock would put it, illogical.

Hank, have you ever been to New York? I was in Arizona. Feels like a different world there. The only sign that it is in the same country as New York is the same flag.

Arizonians have good patience, and I am glad for that. Your patience served you very well in your visa journey. But here in New York, we never learn patience. Patience is even dangerous in New York because it will get you run over by the rest of us.

The Achilles heel of our impatience is when we are in a proceeding where patience is in fact a virtue, like with our visa journies. New Yorkers, immersed in the most instant gratification society on earth, now have to navigate their way around a world that is second nature to you. I am doing my best, but please understand that the hurry up and go instant gratification world of New York is where I was born and raised and where I have lived my whole life. It is the only world I know.

Thanks for putting up with me. I hope you understand why I cringe so badly when things that should take a day by New York standards suddenly have to take a month.

I am originally from Minnesota, and I am a Norwegian to boot .... boat loads of patience there with a serious touch of bull-headed. :lol:

I have been around a few New Yorkers as well as some from Chicago (two very similar types to me) when doing business.. in my book they were way too rude and demanding for my tastes. ;) I know a few guys from Long Island and even Brooklyn and we get along fine but that is not work related.

That pretty much describes me. On a personal level I can be a great friend, but when you have something that I want and you are not giving to me fast enough for my tastes, all the New York stereotypes rise to the surface. You have to be that way here or your business contacts will squash you like a bug. But those qualities are bred in us, and you can't just turn them off.

Last weekend when my internet went out, I was yelling and screaming ot customer service, demanding holiday service. I did not get it, but I was put first in the list on Tuesday morning. That is how you get things done here. If I were quiet, I would have been lucky to get it fixed Wednesday morning. That is what I am used to, and it is so frustrating to deal with a bloated government agency that is immume to the sort of pressure that we use every day here to get things done.

Thanks for understanding.

It is all in the wisdom ~

Grant me the serenity

to accept the things I cannot change;

courage to change the things I can;

and wisdom to know the difference.
