So, USCIS finally issued my husband’s EAD card and they set an appointment date for the interview to get his green card! My questions is can he apply for a driver license with just an EAD card?

Thanks,

AD

Congrats on the EAD card. It all depends on your particular state's requirements/regulations. You need to check with California DMV about the driver's license availability.

Congrats on getting the EAD card! :dancing: As A&B mentioned, requirements in getting a DL vary in each state. Here's the CA DMV link for the eligibility and documents required: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/dl/dl.htm

as long as you have SSN you can apply for driver's license.

Not necessarily. Requirements vary by state, and for non-USCs, it's not just the SSN.

Make sure you wait atleast 2 weeks before going to SS office because it takes USCIS up to 10 working days to make their information available to Social Security which is bizarre... I went to SS office day I received EAD card and they couldn't verify it there and then so it sat on someones desk for a month, I then called them up fed up n they did it there n then over phone! 5 weeks later still waiting for SS card so can go get my learners permit.
