I realize these people had tickets, but don't you think they KNEW well in advance the date on the tickets??? This would irritate me if my husband and I had poured a lot of money and effort into the wedding...and if there were definate RSVP's involved. This is just plain rude, to skip out on a wedding...haven't these people ever heard of TiVo or some such thing as that? Or even a VCR?

Well since this is a playoff game they certainly did NOT know well in advance or even that it was going to be the evening game until just a week or so ago.

Tickets to the live game is very different than TiVo, not even comparable....

I apologize fwaguy for my apparent stupidity. I do not follow football. I am sorry that I am such a wacko to you. :(

This sounds a lot like my ex (one of the reasons he's my ex). He wanted to make sure HIS wedding wasn't during deer season.

actually no, since it's the playoffs, and the Saints (until this year) hadn't come close to being in the playoffs in ages. The date (and whether or not it would be in New Orleans) wasn't set until 2-3 weeks ago. Not exactly something that the bride could account for when setting her date.

With that being said, if I said I was going to the wedding and had tickets, I'd go to the wedding.

I see fwaguy beat me to the punch. And, Karen, no you aren't a wacko!

Like I said...I don't follow football. My mistake was obviously expressing an opinion about it being rude to skip a wedding for a game. I have no idea about the playoffs or any such thing. Again, MY APOLOGIES.

Hardly, I completely agree with you! Just an example of bad VJ posting timing.

If I were the groom, I'd invite the couple to a *big formal* night on the town, tell them to meet me at the very expensive restaurant, having made the reservations in their names, then call and cancel 30 minutes after I was supposed to meet them.....oops.

I had a group of people rsvp "no" to my wedding because they have season tickets to one of the big university's football games and my wedding coincided with one of the games. At the time, I was really disappointed that someone could choose a regular football game over a wedding, but I guess it's done all the time.

i think it was a good choice to attend or watch the game...if your friend doesn't like it, you can always get new friends. Playoff games/tickets are hard to come by.

Weddings are hard to come by too....I guess it just shows what some people truly value; and it shows who your true friends are. Anyone who would choose a sporting event over a wedding isn't someone I'd want at my wedding anyway.
