Well, I think we've settled that one!

How pathetic is it that a discussion about Salami has been my high point of the day? Now who had the grey poupon?

that's sad! What about all those other explosive threads? :innocent:

Which ones? All I see is threads about owning a Moroccan, Salami, and emotional baggage which may or may not be Samsonite. :innocent::lol:

Yes there is actually beef pepperoni, and this web site sells halal: My Halal Meat

My brother in law also gave me recipe, I'll try to dig it up.

My Muslim friends tell me they're not allowed to say "Salam" to a non-Muslim. Is this a widespread belief?

Salam is an arabic word and arabic existed long before Islam. All arabs use the word salam, its not tied to any religion.

Understood, but is that a widespread belief among Muslims? My interactions are mostly with subcontinental Muslims and I have heard that among them over the years quite a bit.

Maybe it's like, a Jew in England or France or America is going to say "shalom" occasionally but only to other Jews (very rarely, in religious settings, I guess). An Israeli, Jewish or not, is going to say shalom to everyone, because it's Hebrew. But when the language becomes part of the religious culture it morphs into a religious thing?

Tofu pepperoni

I thought I saw turkey pepperoni at the grocery . . . but I'd definitely check a healthfood store (like WholeFoods) for some tofu pepperoni . . . I am amazed at what they make from tofu and soy these days.

This is something that I guess is just beyond me. Now I realize you are not a vegetarian but for those of you that are. Why would you buy something that looks like meat, and tastes similar to meat if you don't eat meat?

Maybe because they are not eating meat because they dislike the taste but because of the treatment of the animals?

Or because salami isn't exactly the most healthy thing and maybe some people are not supposed to have those kinds of meats in their diet but they like the taste/texture/spices of salami.
