Moikka! Vilkase tämän sivuston k1-guide, siinä on aika mainiosti kaikki tarvittava.

To the ones who don't speak finnish, I was just explaining what she'll need to send her fiance for him to send the USCIS with the petition. I also have good news! Our case was approved on Friday, so we are moving along :) It seems we really were lucky to be at CSC. I hope TSC will start moving faster too and all you guys will be approved soon too :)

Hi and thanks for reply=)

Can I effect anyway to where our k1 goes? CSC/TSC...??

Hi everyone, just now noticed this thread! My husband is a USC and I was born and raised in Finland- Turku to be precise - but I've lived abroad for many, many years and consider myself more of a global citizen. Great to see all of you here, and good luck with the process!!! :)

By any chance are any of you in the San Diego area? Or learning Finnish around here? My husband sure could use some inspiration or even a study buddy...!

I am in the process of learning Finnish :) I ended up buying a teach yourself guide with a nice book and dvd "Complete Finnish" by Terttu Leney and it has helped me so much as my fiance said all of it is correct since it's a Finn who is the author. I have found anything American made has a lot of incorrect Finnish in it.

Just noticed this, we are another Finnish-American couple, or a Finnish-American family as we have a dual-citizen child born while we previously lived in the U.S.

We've been on the IR-1 visa route for almost 1,5 years now with no end in sight..

IR1 took 520 days....

It honestly really is a shame how long it takes to get your loved one over here when you are already married. I certainly hope that one day this process will change and people in your situation have a much quicker response time to get your loved one over here. I really wish you the best of luck, and please keep us updated!!!

This seriously breaks my heart knowing you guys who are already married must wait that long to get your loved ones over here. I honestly don't find it fair!!!! I really hope this is resolved soon and you are all united once again.... please don't lose hope!

Hi everyone...just did take my fiancé to airport and looooong waiting starts again :clock: .... all documents now in Usa and dry to send. Gonna be long and cold autumn huns.

Good luck to you both!!!!! Please keep your spirits high and don't give up on one another because your time will come I promise :)

It is incredibly messed up. And because we wanted to do this right, we have been separated for 12 months now, and will be for at least another 3 months (if we're lucky...) :bonk: But this has got to end at some point! So here's to hoping we get reunited before Christmas!

I know, my husband feels like we are being punished for getting married! But, we've been married for several years, so I will (hopefully) be getting the 10 year "green card" and won't have to worry about adjusting or removing conditions. I plan on applying for citizenship as soon as I can so I never ever have to go through this agonizing process again.

Have you already received your interview date?

You're almost there! :dancing: Congrats and let's hope you get your interview soon!

Thank you, I hope you'll get the checklist reviewed and a cc soon as well! Where will you be moving to?

By the time we get the interview date, we have most likely been on this visa path for the one and a half years. I would have given up on this process many many times, but my husband stays adamant and I do acknowledge that it is his turn to live (and have us all live) in his and our child's home country.

IR1 took 520 days....

We are thinking of moving to the DC area as well, but it really depends on where my husband's career takes us. He's originally from a small isolated farming community in the Midwest and I'm not moving back there

Hey guys,

So I had my medical with Anna Back a few weeks ago. She was really friendly, so I can definitely recommend her! Apparently Borgström doesn't really do exams any more, so I guess there's only two doctors to choose from. I think Back is only available on Wednesdays, since she's not working at Eira every day. I picked up the results myself and they were in a sealed letter which I'm taking with me to the interview. They could probably send the letter to you as well, but it was easy for me to go and get them myself.

We never got a letter from the nvc, but I booked my interview after getting a letter from the embassy. Interview times were not available for every day, but the wait wasn't long (less than a week for the first available time). And at least when I checked all the times were at 10am.

Good luck to you married people too on your journey!

Yup, small town (more like a village I suppose) in the middle of nowhere was not my kind of place. Especially since it's right next to a methane plant...

Which field are you in, if you don't mind me asking? I just started my PhD studies at the University of Helsinki, and I plan on continuing writing my dissertation after we move.

Thank you for sharing your information! How much was the medical? That's too bad about Borgstrom, I heard good things about him.

Good luck with your interview! Do come back and tell us how it went, if you have time!

I don't know if someone already posted this, but for those of you who can read Finnish, here's some Finnish visa/medical experiences: http://www.naimisiin.info/yhteiso/topic/112197-ohjeita-usan-viisumeiden-hakuun-vol-2/page-15

So the medical was about 450€ for me, and that included a polio booster but no tetanus vaccination since I didn't need that.

Thank you, I'm pretty excited about things finally moving forward! I booked my ticket to the US last night as well, although I had to get a return ticket since single tickets were so expensive.
