I filed a tax extension for the year 2014 so I have not filed taxes for this year yet. I will be doing that in the next week. I had also filed an extension for 2013 but I did file my taxes for 2013 in October 2013.

I am having problems getting my tax transcripts from the IRS. Initially, I was not able to log on to their site because they asked so many questions that I did not remember the answers to. That caused my account to be locked out. When I managed to log in, I could not see my transcript for 2013.

My questions:

a. I have always filed using TurboTax online. Can I get copies of my returns from Turbotax and submit them instead of getting the transcripts from the IRS? Is there any thing special about the IRS returns where they are stamped with an official IRS seal?

b. Any other easier ways of getting my tax transcripts? I have read where I can walk in to the IRS office with my social security card and try to ask them.

Thanks again for all your help.

Harry

Well the tax transcripts show proof you filed with IRS. Did you call them and order you could get fast or just go into your local IRS office and get right then.

So I go for the B option.

But yes you can always print put your turbo tax and attach W2 and all other things that were filed. Along with current extension and W2.

I did manage to get the past 3 tax returns I filed from the IRS website. I have filed an extension for the year 2013 so I will merely submit the extension form along with W2 and pay stubs. For those that are not aware, you have to use internet explorer to connect to the IRS website. The chrome browser does not work.
